Bob Dylan, Arthur Lee—guitars, vocals
Jack Bruce—bass
Jim Capaldi—drums

I imagine Dylan and Arthur Lee would've made an epic team of lyric writers.

Just kidding. Kind of.

Plant - vocals
Hendrix - guitar
McCartney - bass
Bonham - drums

Can sub Lennon or Morrison for Plant any day, but Hendrix on the guitar makes for a more Page style of music, esp. compared to a Lennon-Hendrix combo IMO

I would have paid big bucks to see these guys perform together:

Steve Marriott - Lead vocals and guitar
Rory Gallagher - Lead guitar and vocals
Phil Lynott - Bass and vocals
Keith Moon - Drums and party starter

I believe the sum of the parts would have been better than the pieces, and the pieces were all damn good.

Assuming they survived playing together. We're talking alcohol consumption on an oceanic scale here.

I'm going to make an all female super-band.

Drums - Samantha Maloney (Hole, Crue)
Bass - Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde)
Guitar - Nancy Wilson (Heart)
Keyboard - Sarah McLachlan (replacing Tori Amos)
Lead Vocals - That's a tough one because I don't know what style of band they should go with... Pat Benatar or Neko Case depending.

That would be a REALLY good band.

ETA:

Sarah McLachlan not be a better keyboard/piano player than Tori... but I'm thinking she'd mesh with the others better.

It definitely would be, and parts of it wouldn't be too hard on the eyes either.
