Id prefer to pour boiling battery acid in my ears than to have to listen to their new song again.

It's laughable how formulaic it is is.
Jacked up truck+girl jumps in+shitty booze of some type+put tailgate down+something nobody does anymore (waiting all night for song to come on radio, blanket under stars, etc.)+drink it up+ambiguous term for getting laid
It's all some carefully crafted dream of trashy suburban folks who want so badly to actually live out the more trite parts of the songs. But it's conflicted with the rap stuff. Girls dreaming of being wooed under the stars by the river bank by a hick guy in a flatbill blaring Nelly? WTF?

I mean honestly, how can anyone say with a straight face that this is country music?
Any remotely intelligent person couldn't

What they wear says a lot about them. Don't even need to listen to their music to realize how terrible they are

And that's what I don't understand. The formula itself..ok I get that. It appeals to people who claim they like country. It sells. I get that.
BUT, when practically eevvverrrryyyyyyy hit song has the SAME formula, you'd think people would get tired of it. All the big country acts out on the radio now (f/g line, jason aldean, luke bryan, brantley gilbert, etc) all use the exact same frickin formula. YOu'd think after a while people would be like "hey did you hear the new [x] song!?" "yeah, it's basically the exact same song as [y]'s last one..."

Producers get paid big so that DOESN'T happen. Every artist knows the quality of their music. FGL may be the only ones that Actually believe that they are changing the world with music, and have talent. The songs are all written with the same formulas yes, but the engineering and production changes each one ever so slightly so the average listener wouldn't be able to tell. Don't be mislead, the guys in the studio with these hacks are extremely gifted.

That's what's so frustrating about it. The people singing this shite couldn't write or produce a record to save their life. The studio people are insanely talented, including the stand-in players. I don't blame them for using their skills to make money, they've figured out how to make the market bear the most fruit. Still would be awesome to see them use their powers for good some time.

Never heard this phrase, but will definitely use it in the future.

I'm sure they do. I know I do. I have to play padding organ and keys on a bunch of lame studio stuff sometimes, but I get to sit in with great unknown bands around town. Open mic nights and improv jams are fun as hell.

actually a pretty decent songwriter imho...
i don't like what FGL wears...and I don't dig their stage presence...but on the river...drinking beer...hanging out with folks....their song comes on...im not pissed...it mixes in with all the rest of the stuff on the ipod...which has all kinds of other shite...meh...im eclectic though...and I think that is the thing...these guys are too...their influences include hank...and drake...unfortunately...you ever go to a field party?...how about all the white kids listening to straight up hiphop lil wayne type shite and they are from Adel?...it is a different generation of country listeners...doesn't make them "trash"...just my .02...like i said...i listen to everything and I like country so..I'm not a hardcore "real country" elitist I guess..although i do appreciate Waylon Jennings and have plenty of that stuff im my collection as well...

It's a mission of mine to make sure Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean and all of this other garbage is as hated as Nickelback is by most of the world.
