Hey, "All the Young Dudes" could have very easily been a Speedwagon tune
That´s a David Bowie song, by the way.

I always associate REO Speedwagon with Styx. Probably because of the Midwest connection and they're from approximately the same era.
Plus . . . you know . . . whitebread rock.

I've decided that the answer to your question is T-Rex.

Icehouse? They were Australian but were big more towards the late 80s. Had a couple of very good songs like "Electric Blue" and "Crazy".

Definitely not a guilty pleasure. In fact, some of their best songs were ones that are sometimes overlooked. Songs like "In My Dreams", "If That Ain't Love", "Here with Me" are great as well.

"The Bee Gees"
Another band known more for their 70s music that had some good overlooked songs like "You Win Again" and "One".

I met REO's singer Kevin Cronin after one of their shows at The HOB in New Orleans about ten years ago. Dude was a total douche. After insulting his wife onstage the whole night he left with two really nasty looking old groupies (one under each arm) and ran off towards Bourbon Street after the show.

I wore out an 8-Track of "You Can Tuna a Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish" back in the day.
