What did last night do for Trey Anastasio's legacy?

I realize it was only one night out of five, but clearly Trey was the highlight. I never thought he was the wild card, however many older heads thought otherwise. Not sure why one would think that considering the average age of the Core Four (70- something?).
Anyway, did the Dark Star, St Stephen's->The Eleven, Cream Puff War, etc... prove that Trey was the best guy for the job? He played great, intricately mixing his patented style with that of Jerry's pre-71 weirdness. Much, much better than his appearence with Furthur at Lockn 2013.
There will never be a complete replacement for Jerry Garcia, but for at least one night Ernest Anastasio III did a damn good job.

Typical Heady/Solja bullshite right here. Legacy talk after one show with a band he should be humbled asked him to join. Always the same with Phans, every show description has to include hyperbolic descriptions to glorify your deities. Always "epic" bullshite, never sufficient to say yea he jammed, sounded great with the dead, nah, gotta be a circle jerk. And i actually thought Trey sounded good in a subservient way. Show was awesome.
Also, you call me a noob again I'll frick your mother on the 4th of July barbecue table at your Aunt Myrtle ' s house next weekend. I've got ticket stubs in an old wallet that have been to more shows than you. Blee dat, fat boy.

When the frick did I say "epic" or really any hyperbole? I said
But by all means, keep resorting to :personal attacks:

Sorry, the "legacy" irked me. I guess I've just listened to too much Jonathan Schwartz shlob on jam on.
The show sounded/looked great, watched it all night. Trey did a great job, and it looks like he added a few pounds as well, looking and playing healthy.
Just don't ever fricking call me a noob again.
Can't wait for tonight.
Eta: I highly doubt Trey accepted the gig with his "legacy" in mind. Surely that is already firmly what it is???

As much as I sound cynical by saying this, Trey was picked for marketing reasons. His name sold probably as many tickets as the dead members names did.
HAVING SAID THAT, I never doubted he was a great fit for these shows. He's played with those guys and has sounded great with them before. I was thoroughly delighted from his performance last night. You could tell that he wasn't lying when he said that he had been practicing his arse off, and it showed. When the guys puts his head to something, he can't really be beat.
As far as legacy goes, I think that it just shows that when the guy puts fourth total effort, he is the best in the biz, and will seemingly be a bright light throughout these epic, unforgettable 5 nights.

See, aside from the Warfield 99 shows (which owe almost as much to Kimock and Page rounding out the lineup) I never was overtly impressed with Trey's Dead stuff. Lockn 13 was pretty terrible. The 2006 sit ins with Phil had some highlights for sure (St Stephens in particular tended to be HOT) but nothing to write home about. The Glen Falls 07 shows were forgettable outside of Trey singing the "test me test me, why don't you arrest me..." in Bertha to the crowd's delight.
Last night was much better than any Trey Dead-related project outside of Warfield 99 imo

Those shows are what I am mainly referring to. I didn't like him with further at Lockn either.

Trey has established himself adequately as a rock star on and off stage, no doubt. Does he have flaws? I say yes, but his body of work bows to no one. Sooooo....as for the show...
Those guys were killer on NIGHT ONE. Feel like they spoke to every single member that has passed on. Really ethereal elements were present for a spell last night. I say we Just enjoy the ride I say, legacies work themselves out much much later.

I think it cemented him as a first ballot, hippy hall of famer!

I hear a Jerry hologram will give Trey ' s induction speak.

And it showed in his playing. I enjoyed it.

Jams last night were great. The vocal harmonies were painful to listen to especially during the first set. Those eary dead tunes have high parts nobody could reach last night. Also, why does phil have to sing? Bobby, bruce and trey are all much better options. Pissed me off it took until the encore for bruce to sing.
Having said that, show was amazing and exceed my meeger expectations. Video and sound production were top notch.

Agreed about the vocals but that's what I expected. Also thought it was strange that Phil did so much singing.

Not a huge fan of Trey or his band, but he did as well as anyone could have asked for last night.
