Excluding all the albums released between DSOTM and The Wall.

so, excluding all their best

Ok then, in no real particular order...

Obscured by clouds (criminally underrated)
Meddle
AHM

1. Meddle
2. Obscured by Clouds
3. Atom Heart Mother
4. Ummagumma

I don't really enjoy Syd Barrett era stuff at all

When I saw them in 75, here was the playlist.

No opening act. PF only.

I Wish You Were Here in album sequence
Break
DSOTM in album sequence
Break
One Of These Days
Echoes

And then they were gone.

Mind blown.

I would try to describe the visuals and sound, but I would fail at that.

Didn't you just exclude all the Alan Parsons productions?

Not a fan of the Syd Barrett era so I'll have to go with A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell

I like Meddle.

The song "Fearless" has become one of my favorite songs ever.

Ah. So, "opposite day" kind of stuff?

Seriously, the answer here is Meddle, with Obscured by Clouds rolling in a little later and Atom Heart Mother on a good day. From A Saucerful of Secrets through Atom Heart Mother - they were really in the transition stage from what Syd had created and what the 4 classic members were creating, not fully realized until DSOTM.

Meddle is probably the first, true, partially realized "Floyd" album (as we consider the catalogue) and is probably the only album that can really compete with the run from DSOTM, through WYWH, Animals and The Wall.

I love Piper at the gates of Dawn. it's probably the Floyd album I listen to the most (Dark Side is the only other contender). Though I would say its practically a different band.

Non-Syd? Probably Momentary Lapse of Reason. It's not a great album, but it's pleasant.

While on LSD, it's definitely DSOTM.
