Blink-182 has sold a total of 13 million albums in the United States and 50 million worldwide, they've won 18 awards out of 29 total nominations, every album they've released since Dude Ranch reached the top ten on the pop album charts, 2 reaching no. 1, and they've only released 7 albums total in their career so that's commendable efficiency. They're widely cited as bringing pop punk into the mainstream as well. By contrast, Weezer has not even approached those sales figures both domestically or internationally, they haven't won many awards, they've released more albums than Blink-182, and they've achieved 0 no. 1 albums. Therefore, Blink-182 is better than Weezer. Case closed.
And, by that ridiculous logic, neither are as good as Nickelback.

I think this might be an age thing the under 30 crowd I think will be pro blink because thier music really connect to the 12-18 year olds and those older never got that nostalgic connection with blink
I think Weezer has better music than blink but I would rather listen to blink if that makes any sense

Blink 182 is shite. They play the same three chords in every song.

Weezer is better, but Weezer was definitely overrated by my generation.

weezers first two records influenced literally THOUSANDS of bands in the last 2 decades.
and their output 20+ years later is still good with the white album and EWBAITE

Weird comparison thread.
Maybe it's because I like both and don't want to choose between them, but they are completely different sounds.
Blink 182 also doesn't get enough credit for its songs that aren't hits. Pretty much all of Self Titled, Take off your pants and jacket, and Enema are above average to amazing. I feel like Weezer is more hit or miss.

Weezer - new white album is great too.

Blink has been more consistent; Weezer has some downright embarrassing material.
Weezer's best work (Blue, Pinkerton) is on par with and perhaps slightly superior to Blink's best work (Dude Ranch, Self-Titled).
Blue is an all-time GOAT road trip album, which counts for something.
Blink is the better live band. Weezer borderline shoegazers.
Rivers is a douche, as is Tom DeLonge.
It's probably close to a tie, broken as follows: Since Tom is gone and Mark isn't a douche, let's give a very narrow victory to Blink. Maybe.

Blink was more commercially successful to be sure, but what does that really mean? They were really just another "word and number" band of the late 90's when word and number bands were coming and going like cheap hookers. Pop punk was the sound of that era.
Weezer to me, was better. Less punk, much less hokey than Blink and more nerdy which I liked. The songs varied in theme so much, that you never really knew what you were getting from one album to the next. Certainly they are more popular among musicians and influential to many other successful bands.

- Musical ability/creativity: Weezer, specifically Rivers Cuomo. He ghost writes songs for many artists, a lot of which have gone on to become mega-hits.
Travis is the only real musician in Blink, even by Mark and Tom's own admission.
- Popularity/commercial success: Blink easily
- Originality: I give the nod to Weezer. Blink just took everything NOFX and The Descendents did and added dick jokes. Weezer brought something new and fresh to the table, Blink was just the Fisher Price "My First Punk Band"
All that said, give me Blink any day. Cheshire Cat thru Self-Titled defined my adolescence and high school years. I never cared much for Weezer but I think I came late to the party on them. Every time I hear the intro to Carousel or pop Enema in and that bad arse Dumpweed riff comes blasting out...I can't help but jam out.

You have no idea what irrelevant means.
And you don't know what a strawman is either.

True story.
In fact, I make it a point to listen to everything Weezer puts out, and there has been some really good stuff on albums that very few listened to. Weezer has almost slipped into full-on "under the radar" status. And, from my view, they are still really good.
