I just checked the song listing from The Violent Femmes. I had forgotten how many of those songs I liked. Almost the whole album.
For whatever reason, I know nothing else except American Music which is meh.

Pretty much anything off their eponymous Violent Femmes lp and Hallowed Ground is greatness. After that, the lps are hit or miss.....as for specific songs...Black Girls, Country Death Song, Blister in teh Sun, Kiss Off, Add it Up, To the Kill.....

one of my all time favorite bands

Pretty much all of the first album is great. Although I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing Blister in the Sun again.

Yeah I was listening to the self titled album, and I can go through it easily. There nothing wrong with Blister in the Sun though.

I'll tell you, man, I'm stuck, I'm stuck, I'm stuck on this lovely girl.
And ya know I'd travel, I could travel all over the whole world.
And you know what she does, she turn around she turn around and like another guy
I fall down dead, she never see, see the tears I cry
might be one of the best sung lyrics ever recorded.
Love that song.

I liked it years ago. I've just heard it way too many times.

It's like Stairway to Heaven....I don't want to hear it anymore. But if you listen to it and really pay attention, its a great song.

Good band but haven't listened in a really, really long time. ...
However, all the time the line "wait a minute honey, I'm gonna add it up" goes through my head.
Aaaaad it up, aaaad it up!

I agree, it's a great song, and the Stairway comparison is a good one. It's just completely saturated the culture. I probably hear it once a week between tv shows, commercials, and movies.

They played BR in the mid 80's. Some VFW hall or similar room. Never been there before or since. The ceiling was so low, the band could barely stand up. And hot as hell as I remember.
KLSU was pretty good in the day. There were a lot of good bands at the Bayou, Chimes, etc. back then. REM, Pixies, to name a few.

I saw them in NOLA about that time....maybe Tips....and I saw Guadalcanal at the Chimes in the mid 80's. I think if they would've played the same night in BR I would have gone to VF.
