Sorry fellas, but Van Halen sucked from 1984 on. Who in the frick would allow one of the greatest rock guitarists of the era to stop playing, even for a second, to play the frickin keyboards?
Still bitter about this.
David Lee Roth was the man.

Let me put it to you this way...there would be no Van Halen without David Lee Roth.

If you think Van Halen is any bit less of a douchbag than David is...
At least Dave was honest about it. EVH has always gotten a pass because of his talent.

Old Dave
That said, I like Sammy better as a person. He comes across very honest and likable. Check the Eddie Trunk podcast interview of Sammy. He did one with Michael Anthony too.
I saw the first ever concert with Van Hagar when they opened in Shreveport. I liked them fine in their time, but the old DLR albums are the only ones I still play.

DLR then, now, and forever...
For those old enough to remember, he forgot words in the 80s. But who cares....
Greatest frontman

Dave- no comparison. Sammy should have stayed in Montrose.

Sammy is a better singer and the best songwriter VH has had.

I remember, but it was for different reasons. I'm not sure he even knew he was David Lee Roth some nights.
