What bands from any decade are worth checking out? I need some new music. Something like Bowie or Hawkwind.

Humble Pie
Late 60's/Early 70's rock band that started out with Peter Frampton.

Although their most popular album is the first one without him: Smokin'

I never understood why Silverchair wasn't bigger in the 90's.

Pearl Jam.

They are my personal GOAT, so anyone who disagrees I feel under appreciates them.

Seven Mary Three was or is a band that I thought would have gotten bigger. I always loved the singers voice. They had a nice run, but were never huge.

PJ just played Wrigley and Fenway. Not many bands can say that.

Wolf Parade
Sunset Rubdown

Both are Spencer Krug bands. Bowie is probably Krug's top influence.

Krokus.

Many view them as an Bon Scott/AC/DC rip-off, but they kicked some major arse during the early '80s.

Also, I'd probably recommend Brian Eno's art-rock albums of the early 70s. This was before he turned to ambient and his producing work with Bowie and the Talking Heads. Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy) is a highly overlooked album.

Brian Eno- Mother Whale Eyeless

Brian Eno- Third Uncle

Headhunter is fantastic.

I'd add The Babys. Union Jacks is an amazing record. April Wine had a string of solid albums.
