I believe Hendrix's nation anthem is THE most Iconic guitar solo ever.

Not a melt your face kind of solo, but so crisp and the twin guitars at the end are flawless!

This is one of the greatest and most awe-inspiring solos I've ever heard:

Derek Trucks Midnight in Harlem (Crossroads)

Chills... every. damn. time.

John Butler - Ocean not necessarily one guitar solo as much as it is a 12 minute bout of guitar brilliance.

the 6:38 mark is a great jumping on point, but entire song is great

and then the 10:05 mark begins the crescendo and most "guitar solo" part. Saw him play this at HOB about 10 years ago, and was blown away by it. It wasn't on any of his records at the time; it's a song he only plays live.

Trucks is a god. I also really liked his solo when he played "Isn't it a Pity" with Clapton, and he blew Clapton out of the water, IMO.

Any list without Johnny B. Goode is horseshite. Every guitarist worth a shite has covered this song and added their interpretations to the solo.

ETA: Michalel J. Fox is not worth a shite, so his cover doesn't count.

Midnight in Harlem is one of my favorites, but that wouldn't be considered iconic.

I don't really care for Guns and Roses, but they have some iconic guitar. Like Sweet Child O Mine is an iconic riff as is the solo.

Time, Estranged, November Rain, No More Tears, a few others I probably can't think of right now.

The solo on "Rock Around the Clock " as recorded by Bill Haley and the Comets was also pretty epic for that era of music. The solo was played by NYC session player Danny Cedrone who was paid $21 bucks for the effort.

"I'd love the change the world" by Ten Years After. Really underrated. Not iconic but really great.
