Just saw them live last night. So amazing. Played most of this album and ended with under the pressure

Lucky bastard. Seems like they never come to Louisiana. You'd think NOLA would get a concert

Where does everyone stand on A Deeper Understanding vs. Lost in a Dream? I can't really decide. I feel like A Deeper Understanding is more consistent top to bottom, but the highs may not be quite as high as Lost in a Dream (not that ADU doesn't have some great highs itself).

LITD is slightly* better IMO. A Deeper Understanding is an easier listen and more consistent, like you said. But LITD blew my fricking mind because it was so refreshing. I kinda knew what to expect with this one and I hate that they released 5 singles before it came out because it ruined my first listen. If someone is just discovering this band for the first time I think they'd prefer ADU.

This. I feel like there are stronger songs on a deeper understanding, but the whole early release shite just kind of lessened the experience. I still listen to it weekly, but I wish I would have just gotten that virgin experience with the album.

I think that ADU is quite a bit more interesting, musically, with more variety and "jamming" than LITD. I think that LITD set a more consistent mood/atmosphere top to bottom.

As for first listens: I intentionally avoided all singles until the album was released for that reason.

Picked up A Deeper Understanding on vinyl based on this thread. Love it, just got the rest of their catalog in the mail.

Not sure if he's prepared for Red Eyes and An Ocean Between the Waves and basically just the first 5 tracks being music perfection

I have to be honest, I'm not sure how the music perfection ends with Eyes to the Wind.

I like the first half way more than the second half. I mean the album is damn near perfection but the first half stands out way more to me. Might be that I prefer those ambient sounds
