yep, another winner. Four amazing singles. As great as those four are, and they are fantastic, I'm still not sure any of them quite touch this one though.

red eyes

I've heard this song hundreds of times and it is still fresh and jaw-dropping every time I listen to it. Hope the new ones hold up this well.

I think I have played Pain 10+ times today

All the others are at least 25+ and I always notice something new each listen. I'd say all 4 singles are as good as what is on LITD.

For LITD I can't pick a favorite, so I'll say the first 5 songs are perfection. Disappearing rarely gets mentioned so I'll give that a shout out since it's so underrated.

As I just stated in Rondo's thread...this band is growing on me.

It took me multiple listens to get into them. Just so much there to take in.

Might be the best atmospheric music since Pink Floyd. Late night drives to their stuff is one of my favorite things to do.

How the frick does it have 2 60/100 scores on metacritic?

Three are 80/100

The 4 songs they have realeased are incredible. If this ends up any lower than 85 on metacritic I just won't understand. Slant and Mojo are the two 60 reviews, dunno what they scored Lost in the Dream.

Mojo is a try-hard, contrarian publication. Generally with new albums, if I see a lot of 80's and 90's and then a 60 on Mojo, I can count on it being a good release.

If the other 6 songs are just tape hiss, it would still get at least a 6/10 from me. I think both Mojo and Slant gave LitD 80s.

I still think the new one ends up around 85 or so on Metacritic.

If anyone is planning on buying the mp3 album when it is released, you can pre-order it on Amazon or iTunes for $7.99 and you get the songs already released now (although iTunes doesn't give you Thinking of a Place now).

Way different from the the other releases but still badass.

How the hell does this have a 75 on meta, man? I don't understand. Are we not listening to the same thing? I am salty. Someone needs to pop up and give this thing a 10/10

update: Got another positive review of 85, so now a 77 after 6 reviews. Still think this makes its way to the mid 80s, it's too good. Maybe they think it sounds to similar to LITD, or don't care for the lyrics... I dunno. The 5 I have heard are just as good as the last album, which is a classic.

Why do you care so much about a metacritic score?

It doesn't change the fact that I like it. Never does

But I'd like to see them gain more exposure, and that would be by way of being mentioned on those album of the year lists. And because I want To be proven right. .

I only hear two of their songs on XM, and they sound the same for the most part. I don't hate them, but I also don't see why people are so excited about them.

Thats the way I feel about them... I liked that Red Eyes song the first few times I heard it and then I found myself changing the channel, etc... not because I hated it though...

That's a different one from the ones I was talking about, yet structured exactly the same. It's ok I guess. Seems like Real Estate should be getting more love from this board.

See I find Real Estate songs all kind of blend together. And while they can be pleasant, they don't really excite me.

War On Drugs for me

Just in case you haven't given it much time, Had To Hear makes me think of Television and/or Richard Lloyd. Suck a great into.
