1970 Dec 12 The Doors

The last time Morrison ever performed on stage with Robby, Ray, and John.

From what I've read and seen, the show was a train wreck.

Seeing this ad made me recall that I went to Sound Trek in 1984 for a Doorbusters Sale and for the princely sum of $49.00 became the owner of a cheap CD player.

CSNY-Deja Vu and Pink Floyd-The Wall were my two first discs.

I went to see Rush more than BOC, and they didn't disappoint, Rush rocked the house that night
I really thought the building was gonna fall

No.

Sony released the first commercial CD player that year, the cdp-01, and it was $1200, Tony Campo (who owned Sound Trek) did not have a door buster sale on them for $49.

You are correct, it was not '84, it was '85 and it was an off brand, not Sony or Philips or any other household name. I moved from an apartment to my first house in the Spring of '86 and I had it well before I moved from the apartment.

It played a single disc and had it three buttons on it: play, eject and power on/off. It was about 7" wide x 7" deep and 3"-4" high and had a black case. It had an 110v power cord and RCA output jacks. It had a light green LED display, showing track number and elapsed time.

My bad on the '84.

Also, I still have a Sony D-50 portable CD Player that I bought new just a bit later with a huge battery pack attached. For all I know it still is functional.

This is a fantastic site showing the history of one of the greatest venues ever. I saw so many great shows there and have been "reminiscing" on this site for years. I posted one of the very first threads when this board opened and it was about this link and the volume of information.

Thanks!!!!

From what I understand, the show was cut way short. After about 15-20 minutes or so Morrison started sodomizing himself with his mike stand and the cops rushed the stage and shut things down..

Someone I know went to that show, he reports that he didn't have time to alter his own state before the show ended.

My first show at The Warehouse was Joe Cocker, which I think was 1971. Saw so many great acts there over the years, too numerous to list. Somewhere boxed up I still have a lot of my ticket stubs and I still have a lot of cassettes of shows I taped there too.

My dad went to the doors/Kansas show in 1970

He said Morrison was a drunken wreck. Lots of partial songs and weird banter with the crowd
