Maybe I am in the minority, but I really could never get into Aerosmith that much. I think I liked maybe one song, and Walk This Way is towards the top of the list of some of my most hated songs.

Toys in the Attic is a great album. I´m not big on their ´sound´ even when they were a big deal, but they had a lot of good tunes IMNSHO.

Get Your Wings had a lot of great songs, and they had some isolated stuff on Rocks. Night in the Ruts was the end, for me.

Metallica would get my vote if they hadn't released Death Magnetic. They kind of got back on track with that album.

But man, all those good thrash records and then Load, Reload and freaking St. Anger.......I mean come on. That was terrible.

It´s rare people get back on track, kudos to Metallica.

The amount of people who have unfortunately flailed and failed is tremendous.

Aerosmith were bigger when they sucked! I´m all for making a buck, but damn..... Run DMC relaunched them, didn´t they?

If I hear "Love in an Elevator" one more time...

I would also like to nominate Jefferson Airplane > Starship, KISS circa Dynasty, and Eminem post-Encore.

I'm not a huge Aerosmith fan, but Crazy is an awesome song

80's Aerosmith fell with a thud.

Done With Mirrors is highly underrated.

As far as Aerosmith goes, if you like rock and don't at least like 'Movin' Out' off their first album, then you don't like rock n' roll. Lots of other great songs too. Enough to forgive them their late-80s/90s lapses in judgement and taste. 'Movin' Out' is just NASTY. And I'm not sure what the difference is, but the version on Pandora's Box is great too.

Death Magnetic

It might stand on it's own, if you never listened to 'And Justice...' or any of the other early albums. When you listen to Death Magnetic real close, you realize how pathetic that band has become. They should stick to covers, which is all they're good at now.

Yeah but when compared to St. Anger, it's a masterpiece

The same can be said for ZZ Top. They're still one of my favorite bands, but everything after Deguello is meh.

I agree and is why I still listen to early Metallica pretty regularly and pretend those albums never existed.

This album was my first exposure to raw "live" rock, and changed my perception.

Dream On is an excellent song. Some of their other earlier stuff was pretty good. They stopped writing their own music at some point, right? I'm sure that had something to do with with their decline...

Oh and this:

I'll be honest. I loved that game and thought Aerosmith's involvement was really cool!

The Aerosmith game was awesome. Permanent Vacation and Pump were both great albums.

That is precisely the way I feel about Jimmy Buffett.

He did some really good song: Tin Cup Chalice, Havanna Day Dreamin', Savannah Fare You Well, Son of a Son of a Sailor, Pirate looks at Forty, My Head Hurts, Banana Wind, Mademoiselle

He did some terrible, terrible songs: Cheeseburger in Paradise, Why Don't we Get drunk, Boat Drinks, Fruitcakes, Everyone's got a cousin in Miami, Autour du rocher

I liked Permanent Vacation and Pump. Both those records have deep cuts that hold up. (F.I.N.E. off of Pump kicks arse) Those records aren't as great as their peak in the 70s, but few bands can top Rocks or Toys in the Attic.
Now, when you start talking about Get a Grip and the rest of their output since then, I'm with you. That's when they went to the song doctors and doing all these generic ballads.

Big fan of Aerosmith's early stuff like "Movin' Out", "Mama Kin", ect. Like many bands, I find their popular stuff "Don't Want To Miss A Thing", "Rag Doll", "Just Push Play", "Janie's Got a Gun", "Dude Looks Like a Lady", ect is some of their worst. Of their "hits", "Dream On" and the original "Walk This Way" are the only good ones.

Seriously, go back and listen to their B-sides like "Mr. Salty", "Last Child", "Train Kept A'Rollin", "Draw the Line", ect.
