It JUST opened. Has anyone been inside? I believe Jerry Seinfeld is the only act that has been there.

I am thinking about going see Dave Matthews. I'm not a huge DMB fan, but it's just him and Tim Reynolds. So I plan on just watching them play guitar while I hate myself for being so shitty at guitar.

How's the venue? Parking? Location?

Want to catch a show early before the place smells of curry and jasmine rice.

from another board:

Just got home from Seinfeld opening the Sugarland venue.
• I doubt it will be fixed in 2 weeks, so the most important thing I can say is plan to get their early. Think of how what time you want to be there, how long it will take, and factor in rush hour traffic. And then add at least 30 minutes to that. From the time we got off the free at University – which is basically walking distance to the venue if it wasn’t on the other side of the freeway – it took us 35 min to park. 30 of those minutes were trying to do a U-Turn. You might be better off getting off at the next exit and coming back. My in laws, who turned left at University, for VIP / Handicapped parking, it took them over an hour to park. We were warned about this, so we made the show on time. Ironically, it was a relatively easy out. If you are staying at a hotel, I would strongly suggest staying at a hotel on the same side of the venue that is south of the venue (if there are any).
• The venue itself is like a cousin to Verizon Grand Prairie – very similar. The upper balconies still look like decent seats. Very corporate, and of course since I wasn’t there to see music, can’t judge the acoustics. The weird part of the seating is the 200 sections that are the furthest left and right. They are actually part of the balcony.
• Alcohol prices are about what you would expect for this type of venue – pricey. Decent beers on tap though.

In my seats in Sugar Land. Nice but very corporate. Seats are comfy. Opening band just went on. Sound started loud and took about 30 seconds for sound guy to adjust. Hoping they get a lot kinks worked out tonight. Seems to be decent sound though. Sitting in 204. Can't tell if 300's are sweating their arse off or not.

quote:

Couple of notes from last night now that I have shook off the hangover. Traffic was so much better last night than what i heard from the horror stories with Seinfeld. My guess is trying to get traffic out from first show and traffic in for the second made it a nightmare. We made it from the Town Center to parking in less than 10 minutes. Tons of employees working the lots and the ability to take credit card for parking ($15) made things go smoothly. Getting out took no time at all as well. Very impressed.

Theatre was very nice on the inside but as expected from a brand new place. Tons of concessions so lines were short. Have concessions on the 200 level as well. Seats were large and comfy. Thought the sound was good. Been a while since I've seen a band in a theatre so don't have much for comparison. Couldn't tell if people in the 300's were sweating their arse off like at Seinfeld. I'll be up there for D+T though so we'll see.

Couldn't tell if anyone had been tailgating but for those that do try, they actually have a public restroom outside the theater which to me says they want you to tailgate! Would just need to find out how early the parking lots open.

went to Henley. Traffic was not an issue but we took Uber.

I would not sit in the top level - no bathrooms or concessions and those seats to me seemed kind of far from the stage. Lower level is where it's at (but not the extreme far left and right sections (those are sort of level 1.5 (kind of weird - you'll see when you attend). They also have nice looking boxes on level 2.

The only thing I really didn't like was that the sections are too wide - so those in the middle seats have to have like 10-15 people get up if they need to leave to grab a brew or take a piss.

Concession lines appeared long when we walked up but they have a ton of registers so it moved quickly.

Hopefully, it's not much worse than the upper balcony of the Saenger Theater in New Orleans.

I've got tickets in the uppper level at the Smart Financial Centre for one of my favorite bands. I'm hoping the view and acoustics aren't shite.

Was there for Henley was well, I thought that everything moved pretty well. Concession lines were short and bathroom lines were non-existent.
