quote:Tank you very much. This means a lot to me as a hobby of mine and is not only finding new music but also sharing with others and having dialogue about the music. This is something I have simply done my entire adult life... took a while for people to give things a try on this MB but now it seems to be easier and easier.
Another simply outstanding recommendation. I cannot get over how so many of the bands you mention are love at first listen. Every single song is righteous on this one.
Glad you enjoyed and I will keep searching and sharing
I haven't bought this album yet, but I certainly haven't stolen it. SPOTIFY ads me to death so somewhere someone is getting paid

BTW Biblical has two EPs that came out before Monsoon Season... really good jams... can hear their rawness.

Same here. Unfortunately, there's not that many people I know in real life at my age (44) that are still into new music with anywhere near the same passion as I have, so topics like this and this board in general are a real treat for me.

I certainly didn't intend to insinuate that you personally were stealing music and I apologize if it came off that way. I knew from you're previous post in this topic in particular that you get a lot of stuff from streaming and other legitimate sources.
My only issue with streaming is that it really doesn't seem to be a reliable revenue source for bands. There have been several in depth articles over the last year on the subject, and it was cited as the reason some or your more well known acts have resisted letting their music stream or have pulled their catalogs from the various services altogether. From everything I can tell, calling the income a band or artist earns from streaming services a pittance would be much too generous. On the other hand, you would think that by purchasing MP3 albums, the band is getting a much larger cut of that money, without the expense of actually producing a CD and it's case or having a distributor take a cut. Probably the only other way they really get any other income is from shows and merch.
What I do personally when I see something someone has recommended is check it out on YouTube. If I like it and plan to listen to it repeatedly, I will then buy it. I live in an area where streaming isn't really feasible (no cell service or broadband), so I don't get an opportunity to hear new stuff that way.

I too, am enjoying this thread. Any of you into the band Mothership? I was turned on to them recently.
Mothership - "II" is a very good hard rock/sludge ish album. They are based out of Dallas.

Yep, they are solid. Hard for me to find bands that are current/active that I enjoy. I'm old school thrash/metal for the most part. Jamming old Exodus now!

A lot of smaller bands, like the ones posted in this thread, don't care if you download their music. They look at it as free promotion. I know firsthand Goatwhore, Thou, and EHG don't care. Goatwhore gave away their new cd for free at a show in New Orleans last year and Ben has said many times he doesn't care how you get their music. Thou has most of their music available for free download on their website. EHG are old punks, I don't think they care about much of anything. They all make their money off merch and ticket sales.

Superjoint/King Parrot dates posted, no clue how to post a picture or I would. Shreveport 7/25, Houston 7/11, Dallas 7/12.
They just booked a show at the HOB NOLA. Not sure on the date as the show hasn't been officially announced yet. I guess it'll be at the end of the tour.

I just watched a documentary from 2006 on Netflix called Get Thrashed, about the history of thrash metal. You owe it to yourself to watch it if you haven't already. It was pretty damn cool.

And on the other hand, Orange Goblin and Fu Manchu, just to name two, have repeatedly pushed sales of their CD on their Facebook pages and elsewhere.
It certainly doesn't hurt a band to buy their music, even if you go to shows and buy merch too.

I will definitely check this out. I've never noticed it, or I would have watched it long ago. shite, you could make a whole documentary just on the Bay Area scene in the 80's.

I bought this documentary a couple of years ago immediately after watching it on YouTube. The quality isn't all that great but at least the content is better than the usual crap covered by VH1.

Thanks man...
You guys with that Thrash thread made me realize how weak I am with that genre

I like Big Business. Their show with Torche a few years was amazing.

Seen they were recently touring with Red Fang.
Wish more of these shows would happen here. Or happen here more often.
Or maybe I just don't notice as much as I use to?
