Man I’m getting old. I had tickets too

The fact that Shannon Hoon, who had just gotten really started in life, would almost be pushing 60, gives me anxiety.

We are going to be dead soon.

But a mere speck of dust traveling through.

I still have the ticket from that show.
Luckily I saw them live a bunch of times before shannon died.
Such a huge loss.

Funny I liked Blind Melon, but No Rain is nails on a chalkboard for me.

Amazing talent.
I only recently discovered that he and Axl Rose are both from Lafayette, IN, and went to high school together. Hoon is in the GnR "Don't Cry" video.

He was a unique vocalist. The Devil’s candy took him too soon.

One of the greatest songs ever constructed.
When you feel life ain't worth living
You've got to stand up
Take a look around, look up way to the sky, hell yeah
And when your deepest thoughts are broken
Keep on dreamin' boy, 'cause when you stop dreamin' it's time to die

Same here. I remember driving in my car and hearing the news the morning of the show that he had died, and it crushed me. Wish I still had those tickets as another poster said above me.

Blind Melon has been one of my favorite bands since my older brother got the Soup album from one of those magazines back in like ‘95. Just an outstanding band that was soooo much more than No Rain.
Along with having Hoon’s great vocals, his songwriting was just top tier.

Being in Starkville during that time, they were obviously extremely popular. I got burned out on them pretty quick with that first album. Soup was a much needed relief from the overplayed first album. I only saw them live when they opened for Lenny Kravitz.

Most people from my generation loved that song when it first came out and then got sick of it because it got so big and was overplayed But if you listen to it for what it’s worth and not what it became it’s such an amazing song and I love the iconic video.
They had a brilliant catalog of music.
No Rain
Listening to the song now and watching the video fills me with joyful nostalgia. I love it!!
“And I don't understand why I sleep all day
And I start to complain that there's no rain
And all I can do is read a book to stay awake
And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape”
ETA- I also appreciate what this song became.
