After knowing how long he was a junky and reading the articles about coke and viagra on the tour bus, coupled with rock stars reporting they were getting drunk/high texts from this dude, it's not surprising he died. But it's still eerie to hear him so fricked up the day before his death.

quote:

Some legendary musicians were in touch with each other 4 days before Scott Weiland died ... worrying he had fallen off the wagon again, and was deep into crack cocaine.
Our music sources say Scott had NOT slipped back into heroin abuse -- something that had plagued him during much of his adult life. But we're told crack, as well as heavy drinking, were front and center in the days before he died.

One source -- a huge rock star -- got a call before TMZ broke the story ... from someone connected to Scott who said he had died at around 7:30 PM of a drug overdose. Authorities in Minnesota have not confirmed this with TMZ.

One day before his death, Scott was on SiriusXM talking about his tour ... and challenging ISIS.

Somebody linked it in the OT thread the night the news broke. The Canadian radio host was a complete arse hat first of all. I've been around many people addicted to opioids, both pills and heroin, and to me I thought it sounded like Scott was on heroin and nodding off during the interview. I don't personally know any crackheads but the ones I've encountered in public seem a lot more animated than Scott was.

Although the bassist was arrested for possession of cocaine that was found on the bus. But that doesn't mean they (or Scott) hadn't just snorted all the heroin they had already.

Sad. What a shite show. You know it is bad when your handlers suck at their jobs too. Who lets him on in that shape? Maybe that was the best shape he had been In in days?

Left side of his face stopped working. Looked like Bell's palsy.

Did you read the letter his first wife wrote after his death? SW was a piece of shite.

When Scott did move on to another relationship, I hoped it would inspire him to grow. I had often encouraged him to date a "normal" girl, a woman who was also a mother, someone who had the energy that I no longer had to love him. Instead, when he remarried, the children were replaced. They were not invited to his wedding; child support checks often never arrived. Our once sweet Catholic boy refused to watch the kids participate in Christmas Eve plays because he was now an atheist. They have never set foot into his house, and they can't remember the last time they saw him on a Father's Day. I don't share this with you to cast judgment, I do so because you most likely know at least one child in the same shoes. If you do, please acknowledge them and their experience. Offer to accompany them to the father-daughter dance, or teach them to throw a football. Even the bravest girl or boy will refrain from asking for something like that; they may be ashamed, or not want to inconvenience you. Just offer – or even insist if you have to.

Well he was a junkie and died a junkie.

I didn't expect much from him personally. If he couldn't sing he'd be one of thousands of street guys nobody gave two shits about.

I have a meth head cousin. He can't sing. Hence, nobody will give a shite when he dies. He never sees his daughter and another man is raising her. Judging from the last time I saw him the girl is better off.

Weilands kids are probably better off too. Daddy can't smoke away and shoot away any more money.

Junky gonna junky.

Glad he's dead after reading that. I have no respect for a man who abandons his kids.

I saw an interview with Slash where he said they kicked him out of Velvet Revolver because he just had zero regard for anything or anyone but himself.

There are some youtube videos of opie and anthony talking mad shite about what a douche SW was. They may be right. I'm not going to judge because I've never been an addict. This dude was just fricked up from the jump. This is a long interview from 2005. Even though he was in denial about his current state at the time, it was a pretty good window into the power of addiction.

Long read but good.

In 2005, Scott Weiland sat down with Esquire Writer-at-Large Mike Sager for perhaps the most revealing interview of his life. On Thursday night, Weiland was found dead on his tour bus. Here, reprinted in full, is the original story from 10 years ago, "The Devil Gives You the First Time for Free."

Over the last decade, Scott Weiland established himself as the quintessential junkie rock star. Now thirty-seven, he has to his credit several platinum albums, five drug arrests, a six-month jail stint, and uncountable attempts at rehab. Think Kurt Cobain without the shotgun.

Amazing that he lived so long TBH.

He had always been that way even in the STP days along with his personal life apparently too. Sad.
