They're basically a retired band now so this is no big deal.

Other than Geddy's voice (obviously) lacking the same luster as when he was younger, they are as good as ever. Probably about the tightest and technically proficient shows I've ever seen.

Listen to some of their earlier stuff live, it's difficult to tell it wasn't performed in the studio. Xanadu for instance.

I have nothing but mad respect for Peart, but he´s far from my favorite drummer.

Sounds like he's just tired. In their 60's and going as hard as they have recently.

Sounds like he's always been a strange dude. And they were never the live to party type of group. Being on the road must be damned tedious in your 60's unless you need the money or are an alcoholic.

Dude will be doing some high end but low key jazz drumming projects I bet pretty quickly being such a Buddy fan.

Damn.

He had a lot of tragedy in the late 90's losing his daughter and wife within months of each other. Retired for a while and then came back. There's a very good documentary on Netflix about Rush.

I'm sure he's just tired of touring. I had an opportunity to go watch them a few years ago and didn't. I really wish I had.

I watched a documentary about Rush. Peart told the band after the death of his wife he needed to ride his motorcycle and clear his head. He rode for 55,000 miles

There's two reasons Peart is retiring. Number 1 is that he wants to spend as much time as possible with his daughter. Quite understandable considering how he lost his whole family previously. The other reason is that he has joint problems (I think tendinitis) from all that drumming.

Geddy is healthy and still wants to tour. Alex has some health problems (arthritis) and plays in pain, so his enthusiasm is somewhere between Geddy and Neil's.

Avery Molek - Tom Sawyer

Found a replacement for Peart. Kid is 7 at the time of the viedo and fricking nails this song.

I don't know that he's strange. He's more introverted than anything. He's a professional drummer who happened to get famous. Hearing him talk about people worshiping him is pretty funny.
