His Chess recordings are his best work, IMHO.

I guess he'll be finding out today if you can go to hell for farting in a hookers mouth.

Charles Edward Anderson "Chuck" Berry (October 18, 1926 – March 18, 2017), aged 90 years when he passed and that is a very good run.

Along with Ike Turner (and to a lesser degree Scotty Moore, who died just last summer) - created the rock guitar sound that is still around today. He is named as an influence by literally every rock guitar player since. And not just the playing - the songs themselves endure and are interwoven in the fabric of rock and roll forever.

Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' roll, indeed.

RIP

He was working on an album to be released this year. I would assume it still will be. Can't wait to hear what he had in him at the end of his run. From all reports he was a pretty sorry human being but he was a great musician and nobody can deny that fact.

Well now sweet sixteens turned thirty-one
Feel a little tired feeling under the gun
Well all Chuck's children are out there playing his licks
Get into your kicks
Come back baby
Rock 'n Roll never forgets.

I took my daughter to see him live 10 years ago in room the size of a big basement (Blueberry Hill in St. Louis) and he had a great night for a man of 80. He played for a little over an hour, left the stage, then came back sat at a table and signed autographs for everyone.

Chuck's reaction to Yoko's screeching the week Lennon guest hosted the Mike Douglas Show was priceless.
