I almost considered the "Heaven and Hell" configurations as different bands and included this - a hybrid of Sabbath and Dio.

Good band for sure but I would have to give that nod to Exodus personally. Just my opinion though.

I LOVE Exodus, Testament, Overkill almost equally and an argument could be made for each to be #5...but

Feel the Fire, Taking Over, Under the Influence and Years of Decay are the most incredible run of metal albums in the day, second only to Kill 'Em All -> Justice IMO.

...then Pantera took shite to the next level!!!

ETA: No disrespect to Maiden, its just that I rank them along side Sabbath at the top of the food chain.

Yeah man I hear ya. And I agree, good arguments can be made for each.

I was lucky enough to see both Testament and Slayer for the first time in 2016. If you lumped them all into a "Big 7" Overkill would be the only one I have not seen. Would be nice if they would actually come somewhere close. Will have to be lucky sometime when I'm travelling for work most likely.

Any list without at least 4 tracks from Reign in Blood, or Kill 'Em All, isn't real.

That said, is Rammstein considered metal?

Yes. They are a combination of industrial metal and modern shock rock.

I would love to have the opportunity to see them live someday. I've heard it's one of the best shows in metal.

Of all the songs listed here I'd say The Zoo is my favorite

Probably the Scorpions most underrated release. It's so simple but so heavy.

And I would nominate Sepultura.

Damn were there some great thrash bands.

Sepultura's Arise is one of the darkest, most devastating albums ever produced.

Great record. Although I think I slightly prefer Beneath the Remains.

And to think that Morbid Visions is arguably one of the first black metal albums ever recorded.
