But if you don't hate the part of your brain that interprets music, I'd suggest "New Madrid" by Uncle Tupello. Not sure if I'm cheating since it's "alt country", but one of my top five songs of all time.

Sidenote, if tweedy doesn't play this at jazz fest this year, i will beat the shite out of something.

Country sucks. It's sad that the country folks have started putting rap into their songs trying to cash in on the crap.

I've seen Wilco four times, and never heard this song. Never seen him solo though.

Yes, but there are two versions. I like one of them better. Never heard the Doug Sahm one.

The direction he took Wilco plus things I've read about him make really not like him. I can't not like that early stuff though.

Ive kinda lost interest in their records... Im not sure if Ive listened to that last two more than twice a piece... I bought Sukierae (Tweedy) and I really haven't listened to that either...

But they are always great live... its still kinda hard to believe they are going into their third decade as a band, granted him and John are all thats left from the original lineup...

Still love the old stuff the best, but I've never heard a bad Wilco album. I like the trajectory they've taken, I don't think they could have made seven albums that sounded like AM. But I totally get why someone would feel that way.

Being There is by far my favorite... It's been interesting to see him and the band evolve over the past 20 + years...
