The musicianship and songwriting in songs like Trains and Blackest Eyes is incredible. I don't know how they never got much mainstream traction.

Is there a mainstream station (FM, AM, terrestrial, Sirius, etc) that even plays prog-rock on a consistent basis? I know Sirius 27 plays some prog-rock. I've heard Camel, Genesis, King Crimson and a few other bands but not on a consistent basis.

If you like prog-rock listen to:

Morow

Delicious Agony

Aural Moon

Have fun!

I recently had some of their albums loaded onto my HDD by one of the guys in the audiophile group--I'm just about to get to listening to them. The guy that insisted I load them is a huge prog Rock aficionado and loves this band. I have heard them in passing a few times but am really going to try to get into them--the people that I know that are into PT swear by them...

Do they sell out shows?

You are absolutely correct. PT is truly incredible, and they are at a level that very few bands can reach.

Gavin needs to be in the conversation of best drummers ever.

They don't really exist right now, but I've been to a half dozen shows and each has been a sellout.

If selling out shows is the determining factor of a great band, then we should all be praising Jonas Brothers, Brittany Spears, 21 Pilots and such on here as greatest bands in history of music. I don't understand that guy's point with his question

Have been to 5 or 6 PTree shows and they are indeed one of the best prog bands ever.

Glad Steven Wilson is still making good music but I definitely miss the Gavin influence on PTree albums.

Looking forward to the new SW, Anathema, and down the line Flying Colors albums to come

Was able to see them once at Voodoofest years ago maybe like 2007 or 2008... Steve Wilson gets on the mic after a song and said "Who here had heard of us before?" Not many people cheered... this was when they had dropped "Fear of a Blank Planet" IIRC

Trains was the wife and I's wedding song.

I love Porcupine Tree

underrated... and very under appreciated.

I actually wasn't at that show. My parents, brother, and I actually drove to Houston to see a full set the next day.

I had never heard of them at all until a friend of mine turned me onto them right at the time Atlanta was released. The instantly jumped into my top ten favorite bands. It is absolutely criminal that they are not more well known in the U.S., but they were huge in Europe and the rest of the world in comparison.

Too bad they're probably done for now. Steven Wilson has said repeatedly that Porcupine Trees kind of music has no interest for him now.
