this is the correct answer and an absolute banger of a song

Sausalito Summer Nights - Diesel

quote:

Hot summer night in Sausalito
Can't stand the heat another mile
Let's drop a quarter in the meter
And hit the sidewalk for a while

I'll have a burger and a root beer
You feed the heap some multi-grade
A shot of premium to boot, dear
We'll get across the Golden Gate

quote:

Another mile or two to Frisco
200 gallons from L.A.
The engine stompin' like a disco
We ought to dump her in the bay

Don’t know those songs

Not saying they are bad, but you’re average sidewalk fan would only know his one hit

Same as Madness
Same as Dexys
Etc
Lots of great songs

Hell, dexys knocked Call me by blondie out of the number one spot on the uk charts with Geno in 1980, but know one would really know that

World Destruction - Time Zone (w/ Johnny Lydon)

Oh those late nights at the Bengal with this playing

quote:

This is a world destruction
Your life ain't nothing
The human race is becoming a disgrace
The rich get richer
The poor are getting poorer
Fascist, chauvinistic government fools

And “She Blinded Me With Science” overshadowed EVERYTHING else that you posted by Thomas Dolby. I could run off three or four other songs from Matthew Sweet just like you did with Dolby. You can’t have it both ways.

The Troggs were listed with Wild Thing earlier.

They had a another fairly big hit with: Love Is All Around.

Matthew Sweet mentioned in a thread about one hit wonders??

Sick of Myself was a pretty good radio hit, saw it on MTV a bunch as well - I have 100% fun on cd and cassette - I think it's the best power pop song of the 90s - and I still hear it on commercials every now and then

I want to remember that song,
It was top 20 on US charts?

It sounds vaguely familiar
Stressing the vague part
