I think a Skrillex show might be more your speed, bro.

But seriously, some of Radiohead's best songs are slow, somber songs. They have always been about the dark, piercing, cerebral stuff. I just don't see how you can like Radiohead and not enjoy this album at least a little bit.

I love Radiohead and I've been listening to them since the beginning. My favorite song is 'Everything In Its Right Place'? which was featured in the movie Vanilla Sky.

Everything In Its Right Place

However, as a fan I have to be honest...I think the new album in incredibly weak and rather boring. Perhaps it'll take several more listens, but I'm not feeling it. There's no magic. At this time I don't like any of the songs on the new album.

Not one.

Numbers, Identikit, and Glass Eyes are early favorites for me. I love whats going on musically in Numbers. Very heady.

Album Review

Solid review from Anthony Douchetano. I largely agree with his sentiments

89 on Metacritic

Also getting very strong critical reviews so far. I don't think Metacritic started aggregating ratings until after Ok Computer, but there other albums are:

Kid A - 80
Amnesiac - 75
HTTT - 85
In Rainbows - 88
TKOL - 80

Here is a good site with some bootlegs. They are organized by whichever album they were touring on.

Just because it is amusing, here is the full article...

quote:

Oasis and Radiohead rose through the ranks together in the ’90s, but over the last half decade, their careers have taken opposite trajectories. The former broke up in 2009, and while its two found members have worked tirelessly launching their own solo projects, all anyone wants to talk about is an Oasis reunion. The latter, meanwhile, not only remains active, but is arguably the most celebrated band in all of music. So you can understand why Noel Gallagher isn’t among those eagerly awaiting Radiohead’s ninth studio album.

In an interview with Esquire UK, Gallagher was asked if he was “aware” of the hierarchy of UK bands. He responded, “I’m aware that Radiohead have never had a fricking bad review. I reckon if Thom Yorke fricking shite into a light bulb and started blowing it like an empty beer bottle it’d probably get 9 out of 10 in fricking Mojo. I’m aware of that.”

Later, when discussing the backstory of “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and its subsequent legacy, Gallagher took another shot at the Radiohead frontman. “Technically, there’s better songwriters than I am. Guardian writers will tell you that. Have other people’s songs ever really touched a generation, though? Radiohead? When do people listen to them? Is it when they go out, or is it when they come in? Because I’m struggling to think.”

He continued, “Look, as soon as Thom Yorke writes a song as good as fricking ‘Mony Mony’, give us a fricking shout. Me and my missus, we were at the Coachella festival a couple of years ago and Radiohead were headlining. We were like, ‘Right, let’s give them one more chance. Let’s go and see them.’ Beautiful, sunny night. We walked out through the crowd as they came on, and they were playing this post-techno: ‘de-de de de.’ We were a bit pissed. fricking great. And then he started singing. No. Not for us. We’re party people.”

Gallagher’s criticism wasn’t just reserved for Radiohead, however. He also called out the “new generation of rock stars” including Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner and Royal Blood. “They’ve got the fricking skinny jeans and the boots, and all that eyeliner. I’ve got a cat that’s more rock ‘n’ roll than all of them put together. Pigeons? Rips their fricking heads off.”

“I go back to this: Fame is fricking wasted on these people. The new generation of rock stars, when have they ever said anything that made you laugh? When have they ever said anything you remember? People say, ‘They’re interesting.’ Interesting! That’s a word that’s crept in to music: ‘Yeah, man. Have you heard the new Skrillex record?’ ‘No.’ ‘Yeah, man. It’s really interesting.’ I don’t want interesting! Rock ‘n’ roll’s not about that. To me, it’s about fricking utter gobshites just being fricking headcases. Well, not headcases. But what I want, genuinely, is somebody with a fricking drug habit, who’s not Pete Doherty. Do you know what I mean?”

If you look up 'sour grapes' in the dictionary, this article might be underneath.

It must suck to be a successful musician/band, and never, ever be able come close to the orginality or quality of Radiohead's best work. I can understand Noel's jealousy.

his quote is spot on though, as annoying as he is. many hold radiohead as infallible. they're not.

this album is boring and a far cry from previous works of theirs.

Even worse are the douches that come into a Radiohead thread and jam down your throat how much they don't like Radiohead.

Besides, all I did was laugh at you for quoting Oasis. And we're the sensitive ones? Okay buddy. We tried ignoring you, but you won't quit with telling us how much you hate Radiohead, so don't get your panties in a wad when we call you out for quoting fricking Oasis
