I should have the new album in my mailbox tomorrow (yes, I still buy CDs, lol). I'm not expecting it to match their output from the "glory days", but if at least it's on par with their last few albums, I'll be satisfied. Unlike the majority of aging rockers, Robin Zander's voice is still going strong....

saw them last year at a festival in Dallas
was there for another band but happened to walk over to when Cheap Trick was taking the stage and ended up staying for the whole set. man they really surprised me how great they sounded. the lead singer looked and sounded awesome for his age. really impressed me.

I gotta say, I'm impressed with the album (over-compression notwithstanding). Even my lady friend who knows nothing about CT is enjoying it, FWIW. While I liked their previous album 'The Latest', it might've had one light song too many IMO...that's not an issue here, as they pretty much bring the rock and roll all the way through.

So what's the story with Bun E. and the band? Is it the same situation as with Liberty Devitto and Billy Joel?

from what I recall.. he;s still a member of the band... he's just not allowed to record or tour

This is total hearsay, but one story is that Bun E's falling out with Robin was the result of Bun E making some insensitive & disparaging remarks about Robin's girlfriend (or wife, can't remember), not knowing Robin was within earshot of said remarks....it was all downhill after that. Bun E will be at the RARHOF induction and will perform with the band, and hopefully everyone can keep their shite together long enough...
