The More You Know, eh...
Rick James dodged the Vietnam draft and bolted to Canada. This led him to a band called The Mynah Birds, which featured Neil Young and Bruce Palmer. Not a very well known outfit, but I'm sure they partied hard in their short stint together.

Yes. I guess they just weren't on my radar until a few weeks ago.

That's one of my favorite bits of trivia, along with the fact that Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones were college roommates.

Also, for a while, Babe Ruth had the highest winning percentage of a lhp in world series history. Pettite may have snagged that though. The More You Know eh...

True - and The Mynah Birds, Jack London and the Sparrows, and Steppenwolf had a lot of personnel overlap, as well.
And of course, Stephen Stills was in Buffalo Springfield with Palmer and Young.

and Jim Messina and David Crosby and Richie Furray
the members of Buffalo Springfield connect to a great many famous bands from the 60's and 70's

Also in that wiki link I posted, it says he played some evenings with Levon Helm and Garth Hudson when they were with the Hawks. Toronto was a very talented music scene circa late 60s.
