Michael Jackson - Thriller. Since it is the best selling album of all time it was the most well produced in a quantitative sense.

Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

That album is filled with pure magic and studio mastery.

butch vig took kurts raw chaotic ramblings and launched them toward a sound they never strayed far from again in the studio.

I would say Steve Albini took them in a much different direction on In Utero.. which I prefer..

Not saying Butch Vig did a bad job or anything, but there is probably a bitt too much gloss on it for me.. and that can also be because of the mastering.. The songs still shine through, though...

George Martin was a great producer

Geoff Emerick had a big hand in the sound of those classic beatles records, as well..

True. Both are great. But then he ruined Bryan Adams by making him sound like Def Leppard.

His book is really good. The atmosphere around the Wings 'Band On The Run' is a good read.

AC/DC - Back In Black (Mutt Lange - even though I can't stand most of his Def Lep stuff)

GnR - Use Your Illusion I & II (Mike Clink)

Robbie Williams - Reality Killed The Video Star (Trevor Horn - you can't appreciate it until you listen to it in headphones)

I'd pick Blood Sugar Sex Magik for best Rick Rubin produced RHCP.

While in agreement (as to it being very well produced), I think Gil Norton´s work with Doolittle was absolutely perfect. Perfect.

Recorded hundreds of tracks with Jeff Tomei over the years and he'll tell you that album was the biggest pain in the arse he's ever had. Maybe Cantrell's solo record after LS died.

I'll still say Thriller. I'll put first 3EB record up there as well but will admit I'm an Eric Valentine homer. A Night at the Opera is way up there as well.

I don't know about most well produced but I think it is vastly underrated. Couldn't I Just Tell You, It Takes Two To Tango, and Cold Morning Light are greatness. Good call Gnar

I'll add Metallica's black album also. Not their best album but definitely their best recorded and produced.

Wasn't that a Bob Rock record? He's done some some great stuff.

He did a lot of stuff with Motley Crüe and Bon Jovi as both producer and engineer so it would seem Metallica knew going into the studio they were trying to make a run at mega-stardom.
