Tomorrow night in Dallas. Who are you a bigger fan of at the height of your fandom and today?

One of my favorites.

Modest Mouse is certainly one of a kind.
Not many artist you can truthfully call "one of a kind" anymore.

Modest Mouse is a top 3 band all-time for me, so Modest Mouse.

Brand New isn't even in the same ballpark as Modest Mouse. Sad it's a co headlining tour

Overall, I'd agree. I think Modest Mouse appeals to a much bigger audience. But there was a time (in high School), when Brand New was at the top of my favorite bands list. That's why I phrased the question the way I did.

I've seen Modest Mouse once before and this will be my first time seeing Brand New live (and probably last as they are planning on hanging it up soon). Very excited to listen to both!

I saw Modest Mouse a few months ago. I was a casual fan and I went back and listened to their whole discography after that show. Great, great band.

Brand New.

Saw this show in ATL and Brand New killed it. Modest Mouse was kinda hard to follow even though I knew all of the songs they played.

Nice. Did Brand New or Modest Mouse play last in ATL?

Brand New played last. The Modest Mouse set seemed super short too, I want to say they finished around 20 min earlier than they were supposed to.

Interesting. Modest Mouse has a reputation for either putting on a great performance or totally mailing it in depending on what they're on I guess. I have a friend who saw them get piss drunk and play the song Dance Hall for like 30 minutes and then leave.

The 2 bands aren't comparable IMO.

Modest Mouse is worlds better than Brand New. To compare the two is kind of crazy.

But this is music and everyone has their own taste.

I'm not going to show precisely because Brand New is playing. I could deal with them as an opener, but co-headlining? It's not worth seeing Modest Mouse at a terrible venue for a shortened set with a terrible band.

Oh, and Modest Mouse was f'n awesome. The new album is pretty meh, but that in no way affects their tremendous legacy. They are one of the great bands of their era.

I'm gonna go home and listen to This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About.

A lot of Brand New Haters on here, although admittedly they aren't for everyone.

It's funny that you mention the venue because I'm still trying to figure out why they made this an outdoor show in 100 degree weather when they have a 6,500 seat theater literally right there. I wish it was indoors.

I think Brand New is a great band that really grew a lot over time. Unfortunately for them, it was all angsty-rage based and the emo scene (which I feel bad even including them in because they definitely transcended this genre) has long past. Modest Mouse has 20 years of great Music behind them though and they have also shown a lot of range throughout their discography. Should be an interesting night to see them both perform on one stage. I know Jesse Lacey covers the Modest Mouse song Trailer Trash and I'd really enjoy seeing both bands play that together.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head, although I did like this Modest Mouse performance better than the first time I saw them. But holy shite, when Brand New played they really brought it. The crowd was at least 3 times bigger for Brand New too, although I'm sure it's the same when Modest Mouse "headlines".

That was one of my 2 favorite shows I've ever seen.
