Modern country - garbage?

What is everyone's opinion on here of modern country? I think it's total crap, and most people that listen to it are...I won't go there

Nashville pop is not country, and it sucks. It has become a parody of itself. Country is a genre founded on authenticity. Nashville pop is nothing but feel good trash about drinkin', jeans, tailgates, and sex. This would be ok, if it were authentic, but it's not. The same dozen or so studio artists and writers make all the songs. The performers clearly know little to nothing about the subject matter, still singing about slidin' on over in their "brand new chevy with the lift kit" without realizing that trucks haven't had bench seats in 20 years.

I agree that it is pretty shitty. But a lot of people in America love shitty music, so this genre is going to stay around for quite a while.

It will remain until and unless rock music regains the mantle as the official music of white girls who like to dance to meaningless shite.

How many times are you going to post this retarded theory? All it shows is that you really know nothing about the state of music outside of Baton Rouge,LA.

Florida Georgia Line is an abomination.
As long as they prosper, country suffers. They cannot sing nor play.
I always hated Vince Gills voice, but that fricker can play. Kenny Chesney plays bro country, but he at least writes his. AND can play the instrument he holds.

There are about 1,000 threads about the shitty state of country music and as always, the recommendation is to seek out alternative country artists (or Americana) like Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell.

Modern country sucks... so I don't listen to it.
Pop music sucks... so I don't listen to it.
Classic rock stations suck... with their 400 song playlist...so I don't listen to them.
Get it?
ETA: 400 songs is being generous.

I'll stop contradicting you when you stop being wrong, heady.

It annoys the hell out of me. I haven't listened to new stuff, other than ZBB, in probably 10 years. There is much better stuff out there that you won't hear on the radio outside of a few states

There's lots of great new country music, you just don't hear it on the radio around here. A lot of the good stuff falls into genres like Americana and Red Dirt.
Hell, that new Sturgil Simpson is absolutely amazing.

I think King bob is right, I always say that. I wonder if I got it from him. Girls (and guys) definitely loved Bon Jovi, and other hair pop rock bands. but not sure when it died/transitioned. I can't pinpoint what happened. Grunge, rap.....

Bon Jovi was popular among pre-teens

I've never understood the love for Bon Jovi. They suck arse.

Easily one of the most overrated bands of their era. I really like "Runaway" for some reason, but outside of that, their catelog is among the most overrated and over-played of any classic rock act. They're in the same category as Foreigner, Bad Company, and Journey in that respect.

Their first four albums + these days are good. they were actually a hard rock band then. jon could sing, sambora played & sang his arse off, they wrote a lot of catchy songs, & their live shows were great.
Aside from one or two songs, I'm not a fan of their hits. But like a lot of the material on those early records--especially their debut and 7800 Fahrenheit.
When you say they were overrated, what do you mean?

I've probably listened to 90% of their catalog at one point or another. Bon Jovi's probably my oldest brother's favorite band.
By overrated, I mean that their public esteem and level of play on classic rock stations outpaces the quality of their music in my opinion.
