Husker Du, The Jayhawks

Naturally I assumed these groups hailed from Nebraska and Kansas.

Minneapolis has always had a big scene for punk, crust punk, and metal....underground hip hop as well has been big there for awhile. ...
Artists like prince only come along so often I guess.

I like how Prince was the only artist listed from Minneapolis in the OP. As if the f'n Replacements didn't hail from there. And Husker Du.

Since the 80s?

The Hold Steady. Information Society. The Jayhawks. Animal Chin. Semisonic. Tapes 'n Tapes. Low. Trampled by Turtles. Marcy Playground. Babes in Toyland...

Pretty good legacy of bands. I've got a Hold Steady t-shirt that is the old Twins logo, only the players are clinking beer glasses. They are proudly Minnesotan.
