Been jamming to G. Dead a lot lately and with the amount of shows they have is difficult to pick the right one. What are some of the necessary shows that I need to listen to?

I had traded for a lot of shitty qualify boots in my first few mail trades on rec.music.gdead. Then this jewel came in a trade. Mind was blown.

The Tuscaloosa and St. Louis shows from the May '77 run are pretty hot as well.

They were remastered last year and put into a 5 show CD set (called May '77) which sold out in a day or two. The shows are now available for download, even in hi-Rez audio if you desire!

Do it.

Always enjoyed the dead but never really listened to their full concerts. Would always piece together a playlist.

5/2/70 and 11/1/85
Both are in the Dicks Picks series - very accessible.

The absolute best

No kidding. My wife (who is back on a Dead kick lately) and I were listening to a show the other day. It was a spectacular "Playing", and they were getting out there. Occasionally, Donna would just start wailing like a damned cat in heat, just completely killing it. On top of that, she was mixed in really loud and it sounded like in a different tone or something. It was so jarring and awful.
