Sadly, I think their best days are behind them. I didn't like "I'm with you" and I didn't get into this new one, although I did like a couple songs. "Stadium Arcadium" was their last good album.

its ridiculous that they got this much benefit of the doubt to begin with IMO. Last very good album was Californiacation and By The Way was the last one that wasn't complete horse shite.

Album is growing on me the more that I listen to it.

Granted the verses of "Sick Love" are a complete ripoff of the verses of "Bennie and the Jets".

John Frusciante needs to stop being a tard, put down his tecno shite, and be tGOAT guitarist that he is.

Nope. John needs to keep doing John. His solo stuff is way more interesting than RHCP.

Yeah, that song about female genitals and burning buildings is amazing stuff.

Aside from "The Empyrean", which was subpar at best, he needs RHCP as much as RHCP needs him.

1. The Empyrean is an absolutely fantastic album, but requires the listener to have an attention span longer than 4:00.

2. Curtains

3. To Record Only Water For Ten Days

4. Enclosure

5. PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone

6. Ataxia

Holy hell. Some people HAVE gone crazy! If you think the Empyrean is "subpar" and the rest of Frusciante's work is weak, then I feel sorry for you. I don't understand how some people can like RHCP's stuff from BSSM to Californication / BTW and not Stadium Arcadium. I can understand the dislike for I'm With You.

I was thinking the same thing.

The album has grown on me a lot. Really enjoying it. The last few songs aren't really doing it for me, but it's a solid album overall.

I actually like John Frusciante's solo stuff. I'm just trolling/bitter that he left RHCP.

eh... I went into this album thinking of this as a Danger Mouse band that sounds similar to RHCP.. I have been EXTREMELY happy with it

If you think this is going to be the RHCP of old, you will be disappointed, but I think Mouse is a phenomenal Producer and so far I'm really impressed with his work.

P.S: This goes with Cage the Elephant and their collaboration with the Black Keys, I'm actually entertained by the current music scene, it's nice hearing new things and not rehashes.

After two listens, I'm kinda liking it. If you accept it for what it is, it really isn't bad. Different from what they've done, but not bad at all. I'm playing the vinyl and it sounds great with better dynamic range than the CD, which seems to be brickwalled like all their others.

I'm really enjoying the new album.

The more I listen the more I like it.

I love how they're constantly changing their sound and evolving. They're not scared to try something new.

A solid 8.5/10 for me

The first listen through, I hated it.
Second I liked it a little more.
Third time through I cranked the bass up to 11 and it sounds pretty good. Vocals are still lacking for a lot of the songs. Off key and off beat singing has its moments but misses in a couple of songs . 7/10

They have a few good songs but were always overrated. Much of their music and lyrics especially sounds silly to me. I could never fully get into their music.

First listen I wasn't feeling it, second time through a few songs grabbed me and said let's listen to that one again. Next time through, found a few songs I really like..The Longest Wave, and The Hunter. You have to go into it not looking for an uplift mofo or californication sound and understand they have evolved and changed their sound. I'll enjoy it for a long time, maybe not as much as their previous albums though.
