I wouldn't say they were underrated. Everybody that heard them absolutely loved their music and so did the critics from what I can tell.
The problem was lack of exposure from what I remember.. They didn't fit into the right boxes. I knew nobody around Baton Rouge back when that knew of them. Everybody that I've turned onto them has been amazed that they never heard of them before.

Undderrated maybe. Music just didnt travel at the same speed as it does now. Were well know by those who were able to hear them.
Kyuss spawned one of the GOAT musicans for my money. Their music describes the 90s sound in my brain.
Nice catalouge of albums.
Juat remember also that TOOL covered Kyuss. Pretty cool claim

Love everything about kyuss except for the singer. The dude is so fricking annoying. Too bad josh didn't sing, bc the riffs and rest of the music was awesome. "Blues for the Red Sun" is my fav.

Saw them live at Tipitinas with Faith No More and Babes In Toyland. Must've been '92 or '93. Excellent show.

I love kyuss. Welcome to Sky Valley is my favorite. They had such a unique sound.
