Maiden by a wide margin.

Give me your go-to Maiden album. I've been in a metal mood this week.
I went to high school in the 80's and somehow totally missed Iron Maiden. I remember the band, and I remember all the album art, but I didn't know anyone who listened to them. And considering the amount of hair metal in the 80's, I really never heard them on the radio and their exposure on MTV was limited.

Judas Priest for me. I totally respect Iron Maiden and revere them as legends but at the end of the day I will go with Halford and company.

don't really like either one, tbh, but if i had to choose it would be Killers-era Maiden.

Iron Maiden
I don't think Judas Priest's music has aged well. It was extreme metal for its day that sounds pretty tame now. With Iron Maiden, the playing is still damn impressive. Not really a fan of either though.

I'm kind of the same way. 30 years ago, I would have said Priest, now it's Maiden.
Go to album is Piece of Mind, Number of the Beast and Powerslave are close 2nds.

Iron Maiden
One of the greatest at what they do

Maiden
Both emphasized quantity over quality by releasing a new album each year (sometimes with too many filler songs) but Maiden has by far more great albums.
My favorite Priest album is Screaming for Vengeance, but that doesn't even come close to touching any one of Killers, Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, and Seventh Son.

Maiden, seen them both in concert and both were excellent. Maiden has a better body of work and just better music. Priest has a couple of killer songs while Maiden has dozens.

Definitely all good answers, even though I personally prefer Priest, while most of you who have answered prefer Iron Maiden.
I have to say I prefer Judas Priest because their songs as a whole have pulled me in more than Iron Maiden's songs have. That's not to say that Iron Maiden doesn't have awesome songs. Maiden's songs like "The Trooper", "Wasted Years", and "Run to the Hills" are amazing metal songs that I love and are a testament to Iron Maiden's status as masters of the metal genre.
While those songs are amazing, there are more Judas Priest songs, such as "The Sentinel", "Turbo Lover", "Breaking the Law", "Love Bites", "Hot Rockin'", "Painkiller" and a bunch of their other songs that really nail it for me, and Rob Halford is the definition of what a metal singer should be, while Bruce Dickinson is a close second, in my opinion.
