Easily my favorite INXS song...look up the Youtube version that plays the song twice. Guitars were added in. Sounds amazing. I'll put it here:

Love is (What I Say)

Probably my single favorite performance of my favorite live concert

Michael Hutchence was/is such an underrated frontman.

They were a great live band. Saw them years ago at Municipal Auditorium in N.O. Terrific show.

To give more input,

It follows the band from their roots to their demise/Michael's death. It was great, but it was sad. I do not cry during movies (empire of the Sun was the only one ever) and I nearly broke down.It was very well captured -- Hutchinson's death. The band members' reaction to when they heard the news -- you cannot make that stuff up.

You'll see that Tim was the brawn of the band and the decision maker. Andrew, however, was the driving force behind KICK and most of the other greats as well. Sure, Michael was also as equal a force, but you cannot forget Kirk's ability to play guitar and/or sax...an instrument he learned early on in the INXS days and quickly, too.

Their manager had a huge part in the movie and tried to drive Michael as best he could. Michael was just oo big of a pussy hound. Save Michael's dramatic bullshite later on in the band's career, they all got along very very well. The only other member who had any sort of mental issues was Andrew who moved to London in the early 90's to get away from Michael and the circus he was involved in.

The movie spans all of the great albums -- especially KICK and provides some uncanny funny moments from them dodging beer bottles in a bar the size of Ivar's to the Wimbley Stadium zenith and Michael taking speed before the show (and what an awesome show it was!).

The film does justice. Too many movies about bands have been done hastily or with too much of the director's point of view (Oliver Stone and The Doors, for example).
NEVER TEAR US APART is a 2 part film very much worth watching in one sitting. It's 3.5 hours of your time, but if you loved INXS, you'll be glad!

Yeah, I do not think he was the best Hutchence look-alike, but he still acted well. The guy who played Tim, meanwhile, is about 5 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier.

Gary Gary Beers has a small role in the film...he pretty much did the best-looking live show side girl there was and had a child with her.

I'll also say this about the demise of Hutchence:

You remember when you had that friend who had the potential to pull any arse from any club, but brought home, one night, below average tail (tail that you could have pulled) and then he started dating her and she was round constantly?

That was Michael and Paula. She did NOTHING to add to him.

Finished the 2nd part tonight. All in all not too bad. Im a little too critical of the guy playing Hutchence probably. No homo, but the guy was one of most naturally glamorous dudes ive ever seen walk on stage. It wasnt an act. Dude was a sex god. The guy played him a little cheesy IMO but not a big deal

Related note. I did some reading and damn his daughter has had it rough. Her mom ODd four years after Hutchence died. He was basically broke when he died because of some complex legal structuring of his estate. She was raised by Geldof, and her step sister ODd a few years ago. Poor kid
