What do you need the amp for? Any gigging at all or just jamming at the house?

Jamming/recording by myself or with my band.

Also what style or music are you after and do you have anything invested in pedals?

I play a sort of mix of metal, blues, and psychedelic rock.

As for pedals I have an addiction problem.

I have a crybaby wah, Ibanez tube screamer, big muff, Eric Johnson Fuzz Face, memory boy, boss phaser, line 6 DL4 delay, moogerfooger cluster Flux, super chorus, mxr superbadass, mxr carbon copy, xotic sp compressor.......

Good lord. I'm no electrician, but that sounds unsafe.

Hijack alert!!!!!

Anybody chime i with a good place for guitar cable? Just a 10ft male to male cable??? Guitarcenter AINT it!

Or is cable just the cost of this hobby? Spend to much or black tape all your frayed affordable cable.

I thought this would be a good place to chime in as admitting you have that many pedals you'd better have a good spot for the frick ton od cable you need.

If you're looking from pedal to pedal, there are those. Most stomp boxes are/can be battery powered, and effects pedals are simply plugged in.

Pawn shops have guitar cables, if you're against guitar center and you don't want to spend the $10 to $15 on a new one from musicians friend or Sweetwater or Amazon..ebay..

Try these cables. Can custom cut to your needed size. Best on the market in my opinion

That Mesa Express that clint posted earlier is a fine amp but youd have ro really search fo find one within your price range. And if youre hamming with a band, youd need at a minimum of 15 tube watts. Metal and psychedelic rock kind of elminates a clean amp that would be boosted (fender pro junior with pedalsin front of it), I would look into a Marshall DSL 15c or a Fender Bassbreaker 15c. Both fine amps with dedicated clean and dirty channels, 12" speakers and pretty solid overall tone for the money, especially that Fender. That amp smokes if you are a decent player.

Thank you man. A link and a nameless faceless referral. Sold.

I know I'm going with Amazon or musician friend.

Is there any that look decent but are known garbage.

I got downvoted?

It was snarky but serious. Those are what I was asking for. Names of cables with a link?

I have had bad luck with Monster and you pay a premium price for them. I would stay away. Im currently running Fulltone cables and they haven't crapped out, but only have about 4 months on them. A cable is a cable to me. Ive had good luck with Hosa, Pro Co, Planet Waves and Fender as well. All of those can be bought at Guitar Center honestly.

Lifetime no questions asked replacement is a nice perk.

Guitar center quit carrying monsters because of their change in replacement policy. They have a new instant swap brand.

I know. But from just a week of shopping it seems anything over 3ft is up around 30 dollars at Guitar Center. I got a cable there. Just gonna shop online at Amazon now.

I was always under the impression that you needed proof of purchase/receipt for them to honor that. Can I just mail them a faulty cable and get a new one in return?

Like someone already said, for tubes I'd go with the Vox AC 15 if you're looking for a combo.

For solid state, there's a lot of love right now for the Quilters, but if you already have a good cab check out the Orange CR120 head.....awesome amp, and awesome clean channel. I think you can run into a 8 or 16 ohm cab if you're just running 1 cab.

I didnt downvote you. Not sure what you mean by nameless face referral. George L's are top of the line. Read about them. I am sure musicians friend sells them. I have tried many of the cheaper premade ones like Livewire and they dont seem to hold up, short out after awhile. Rigged my pedalboard with George Ls several years ago and hav not had a single issue.

I've done it at least 10 times.

Guitar center used to just swap them no questions asked. Bring in. Leave with a new one.

Monster changed how they work that program with stores so GC switched brands. The new brand is the same way.

For monster, just mail them back your faulty one and they mail you a new one. It's awesome. Call them first if you wwnt

Country music electric guitar is traditionally brighter than rock when it comes to guitar tone. SO, I'm thinking that if you look into what kind of guitar and amp set-ups that guys like Brent Mason use, you can get close to what you need.

Peavey JSX- 3 channels--clean, crunch, ultra. those amps cover a lot of ground. made in America. Only negative I can think of is the weight.

Carvin x100, x60...

Carvin Legacy 2x12 combo. two channel--clean/lead. 50 or 100 watt switch. insanely loud. they have no master volume but A volume pedal in the loop solves that issue. very well made amps.

Peavey Classic 50 or 30.

This is obviously not a great amp but it certainly should be "bright" enough. What settings are you on? What pickups do you use?

Edit: and for a budget clean amp I've literally never heard a bad word about the Fender Mustang II or III. Solid state but dirt cheap used.

OP:

amps to consider:
fender blues deluxe
Sovtek Mig-50
Laney cub
Silvertone 1482
Mesa studio caliber
1960's ampeg head or combo

stay away from peavey and crate garbage.

cables:
george L or lava cable for your cables and patch cables. I like lava cables a lot. monster is crap and overpriced.
