Thanks! I started off back in 1999 with a nice a Marantz receiver and a pair of B&W CDM7's. Been selling, trading, and buying since then to end up at my current set up.

I have them stored on my PC and a external hard drive. I'm looking at getting something more current though. Meridian makes a storage and interface that syncs up well with my other gear.

Most of the time through a high end component home system. Occasionally with some great headphones. And of course in the car when I take it out.

My computer holds my collection. It's also got a blu-ray player on it for the live concert collections that have become popular somewhat recently. That runs through a Sony STR dh720hp receiver and into a pair of ssf-7000 speakers.
Unfortunately, I have problems with HDCP on that receiver and my tv agreeing, so I currently run HDMI from the computer --> tv, then (unfortunately) toslink from the TV into the receiver.

As far as cheap floor-standing speakers go, I was pretty impressed with these. You can find a pair under $250 pretty easily. They're very clear, pretty flat/slightly bassy.

I long for the day I can buy a pair of Wilson Sashas and a series of Krell products to put in front of them.

That's my setup as well. I have everything lossless on my computer, which I wifi to an Apple airport. It leaves the airport on a 1m glass optical cable and goes out to my DAC. It's an old school style DAC that I bought to soften up the system. My amp has a tube based preamp that does pretty well. Control it all over iPhone.

Nutty looking too, just an airport, DAC, and amp. And one seriously badass tube television.

I wish I had something like my friend's setup.

He's got a turntable where the computer is now.

The airpot is cool though, I can see both of my iMacs which have different fidelity collections (only one is lossless) and everyone who has an iPhone can play off their ipod app.

Does the airport have better sound quality than Bluetooth?

It is bit perfect at redbook (16 bit 44.1 kHz) quality. My DAC only handles redbook and all of my music is in it, so it's good enough for me. It's transmitting and outputting the native resolution digitally, there shouldn't be any degradation.

It's pretty damn handy as well. I was running an optical cable under my house for a while and it was a PITA.
