I've really gotten into Chris Stapleton's music recently. He's such a good mix of throwback outlaw country with a little Fleetwood Mac in there. Just a really good sound.

Hank wasn't great the last time I saw him.

I like Hank Jr., but not in a "I want to pay to see him perform" sort of way. Certainly not in a "I want him to split stage time with Chris Stapleton" sort of way.

Yea. Hank these days is not an asset to anybody. Especially somebody like Stapleton, who is pretty awesome ..

My cousin went to see Hank in 95 or 96 in Fort Worth. Said he came out on stage with a fifth of Beam and sat down on a stool with just an acoustic guitar. He immediately fell off the stool like a tree that had been cut down, and passed out. All there got their money back.

I've seen Hank several times. Once in Monroe he did the just him and a guitar, stool and 1/5 of whiskey thing, but it actually was pretty good. Then he closed by saying "Thank you Shreveport".

He (Hank) did an Audience Channel acoustic show the othere day. Did anyone watch, and if so how did he sound? I assume he did some "talk/singing" and his voice has not held up? hope I am wrong.

I did not watch as just the ads for it appeared to be a political Ted Nugent type ramble fest. Hope I am wrong about that too.

Saw Hank about 4-5 years ago and he had way too many political rants to make me want to see him again. I'd love to see Stapleton too, oh well...

I saw him at Gretna Fest this past fall. I thought he was good, but I was drunk and watching folks wave rebel flags. It was fun.

I saw Bocephus on some New Year's Eve thing in 2013 I think it was. He played All My Rowdy Friends and update the lyrics for the people having died (Waylon, Johnny). It was beautiful.

ETA: Here's him from a different show doing I Walk the Line (and it REALLY sounds like Johnny).

"Willie's hangin' around Taco Bell all day".

Last time I saw Hank he did a lot of "talking" instead of singing the lyrics.

It will still be fun to go people watch.

Saw Stapelton earlier this month at Tabernacle in Atlanta. I bought Traveler not long after it came out and was really looking forward to the show.

I would rate his show a good (not great) at this point as he played a set list of approximately 10 songs with a 2-3 song encore. When considering that tickets were stub hub marketed at $90 (original $30) it was a disappointment. That isn't exactly Stapeltons fault and understand that the quality of his sound, band and voice was excellent. Just wanted a little more quantity to the set list.

Which is one of the reasons I gravitated towards the jam scene in my early 20s. I felt I got the most music for my money with the bands that could extend every song by a good 5 to 6 minutes (on average) with improvisation.
