IT has probably been asked before but who was your influence or inspiration to play guitar. Mine was George Harrison.never over played or distracted from the song itself. Always left you wanting to hear more.

I learned guitar in order to write songs, so I wasn't inspired by a guitarist per se. I will say that I'm inspired, or encouraged by, the example of Neil Young, who has written a lot of great songs around the strumming of simple chords. I'm not much of a guitar player, but Neil has shown that you don't have to be a virtuoso guitarist to make interesting music. Lou Reed is another writer/guitarist of this type.

Family and friends coming over to play bluegrass and old country standards on the front porch. Banjo, Fiddle, mandolin, standup Bass and guitar. I started with spoons as a youngster. It was just kinda what we did, just some real country/ hillbilly shite.

The first song my grandpa learned on guitar was the first song I learned.........."Wildwood Flower"

Early in my learning and playing was Steve Cropper from Memphis. I studied and copied him every Saturday of my teen years. Later, Dickey Betts and Duane Allman. Could copy their chords and rhythm, but not their leads. Their scales were copied and learned.
