Lost a great. May he rest in peace.
Allman Brothers were much more blues and jazz than southern rock.

write up about the TTB show last night

quote:

Things got emotional again during the encore. Tedeschi walked on with just keyboardist Kofi Burbridge and talked about all the friends she’s lost recently — Allman, Butch Trucks, Leon Russell, Col. Bruce Hampton. “It’s been a rough year,” she said. “It’s getting really difficult to deal with.” She then launched into a gorgeous version of Russell’s “Song for You” that got the tears flowing again.

Trucks and the rhythm section came on and launched into a version of the Allmans’ “Statesboro Blues” that was much more celebration than wake before getting somber again when all the musicians went silent and watched as Trucks played “Amazing Grace,” clearly struggling to keep it together.

What's with the down votes? Gregg Allman was regarded by many music critics to be the best rock/soul/blues vocalist of the past 50 yrs, there's no arguing this. You lightweights who down vote this man need to check yourselves or roll ya a blunt and turn your Snoop Doggy Dogshit on.

We're all on the clock dummy, some have more to show for their efforts whilst the clock is running than others. Greg will live through his music for many decades, you on the other hand?

A legendary singer for the best damn live performance band to ever hit a stage. Over the years they kept the spirit of Duane Allman's drive to keep their music true.

Whipping Post, One Way Out, Melissa, I'm No Angel, Midnight Rider, Dreams, Soulshine, Statesboro Blues, etc....
