tops in my book. after hearing how they tear through these songs live. it's hard for me to go back and listen to the studio versions.

My vote. It became one of my most played albums in the 80's.

did get to see them a few years ago on the Stalingrad tour with mark tornillo. it was one of the best live performances I've seen. if you haven't listened to their newer material with tornillo, check it out. similar voice as udo, but more versatile. all three records with him are outstanding. wolf Hoffman deserves much more recognition for his guitar work than he gets. his guitar tone just punches you in the gut.

Oh yeah!!! I picked up Blood of Nations when it was released. It's awesome!! The way I described it at that time was the classic Accept sound with an updated heaviness to it. Heavy in the 2010 sense, if that makes any sense at all. Yes, Hoffman is one of my all-time favorite guitarists. Dude is fantastic!! I have not gotten the next two yet but I need to.

I was REALLY bummed that they came close to here on that tour, Orlando, but I couldn't make it down. I had resigned myself awhile back to never seeing them again so I'm happy as hell they're back at it.

I really like Tornillo. Like you said, similar voice to Udo but he also has a better range. I'm sure he pulls off the older material great in concert.

Another great album.

Hey dude, here's a hint. Those 'live' tracks on that album aren't really live. They were recorded in the studio and had a canned audience dubbed on them.

As to the OP, you can't really go wrong with Orange Goblin's 'A Eulogy For The Fans'.

Metallica - Live shite.

Nothing else comes close for me. S&M was great too for a change of pace. Live After Death is great but I prefer the old school live Metallica. Priest live albums were meh for me. Ozzy Tribute was good.

I know this is more prof but Live Scenes by Dream Theater is awesome as well.

Well said.
100% agreed.

Oh and on topic: Live After Death gets my vote. Mainly because I was there on that tour. Amazing show.

I was recently in Long Beach on business and the office I was in had an unobstructed view of LB arena. I kept hearing over and over in my mind: "SCREAM FOR ME, LONG BEACH!!!".

Priest and Maiden were definitely 2 bands I wished I could've seen in their prime. They changed the game.

Saw Priest in their prime (Screaming for Vengeance Tour) and Maiden as an opening act on the Number of the Beast tour......you're correct they changed the game.

Some of the best ones have already been mentioned. Priest Live was one that I listened to all the time. Maiden has some great live stuff.

One live album that I love is AC/DC - If You Want Blood You've Got It because you can just feel the energy from that concert jumping out of the speakers. Live from the Apollo Theatre in Glasgow, a smaller venue and the album has that feeling to it. Bon Scott was great on vocals and Angus just tore it up.

Deep Purple---Made In Japan
The gold standard for live rock and roll albums. Some will claim it is not metal, but there isn't a band that came after Deep Purple who wasn't influenced by them.
