I say:

Judas Priest -- Unleashed in the East

Other thoughts??

ETA:
I'm gonna add a little bit of a vague criteria. Many people could pull out an obscure bootleg that is probably fantastic, but has only been heard by a handful of other people. So I'm talking about a live album that is at least somewhat known and has sold a good number of copies.

The only live album I've ever owned was 101 Proof by Pantera. I got it when I was like 12 and it blew my balls off

Doc. Too bad you're not a little bit older. I'm sure you would've enjoyed Judas Priest at the Centroplex in Feb '83. Awesome show.

Priest and Maiden were definitely 2 bands I wished I could've seen in their prime. They changed the game.

tops in my book. after hearing how they tear through these songs live. it's hard for me to go back and listen to the studio versions.

agree that unleashed in the east is a great record. but I like "priest...live" more.

I consider myself extremely lucky to have seen them in a club here in Jax in '91. Would've loved to have seen them on this '96 tour though. And the rawness and true live feel on this one is superb.

And as always, with Clutch, you hit right on one of my favorites. So ready for them to come back around here.

That Sepultura album is actually the last show they played with Max so it has sort of a historic feel to it.

Another very favorite of mine:

Accept -- Staying a Life

They were my favorite metal band back in the 80's and still one of my all-time favorites. Their show at the Saenger in '85 easily remains one of the five best I've ever seen, if not THE best.

Yeah I knew he left VERY shortly thereafter. Soulfly came through here about six years ago. It was great hearing them play Roots Bloody Roots, Refuse Resist, and other Sepultura classics. Great show.

Metallica Live shite Binge & Purge
Seattle 1989 show. Nothing even comes close. This was Metallica in their prime. Unstoppable.

Yep. I know I already said Accept in NO in '85 was one of my top five shows ever but Metallica in Biloxi in August '89 is right there too. Top five as well, and those two shows could very well be my numbers 1 and 2. So hard to truly rank things like this though.

'live evil' by the goat, black sabbath ... the album cover alone makes it the best ...

excellent choice. up there as one of my favorites as well. good to see someone else appreciate the greatness of accept.
unfortunately, never got to see the lineup with udo.
did get to see them a few years ago on the Stalingrad tour with mark tornillo. it was one of the best live performances I've seen. if you haven't listened to their newer material with tornillo, check it out. similar voice as udo, but more versatile. all three records with him are outstanding.
wolf Hoffman deserves much more recognition for his guitar work than he gets. his guitar tone just punches you in the gut.
