4.26.71 Fillmore East NYC with Duane Allman. 2nd set is fire! Pigen and Duane was a killer combo.

Had a buddy hop aboard for his first ride with Lucy. Been a good night.

Morning update. Pretty stellar little trip. Went back to the Boulder show from 12-10-1971 somewhere early on in the night and it kicked us into a nice place (Run Run Rudolph especially). My old roommate had never had the pleasure of LSD before, so it was a fun one getting to see that experience for him.

Then, this morning, my current roommate who was working during our shenanigans last night says he was talking to a guy at work about acid. Some old Deadhead. He said he told him he "saw the Dead back in 1971...in Boulder." He saw the show we listened to last night.

Ventured to a local park/climbing spot down the street from my house. The stars came out to play. Perfectly clear sky. Great night. Good times.

Gonna rewind a bit to the beginning of 1978, specifically 1-22-78 McArthur Court - Eugene, OR.
This show became very desirable amongst tape collectors because of Jerry's solo rendition of Space > Close Encounters of the Third Kind

this show will be officially released on 8/1/17 as Dave's Picks #23

crazy fingers>

dancin' in the streets>
cosmic charlie

slipknot>
franklins tower

a sequence that is basically all new music for 1976...three songs from blues for allah, the "disco" arrangement of dancin', and the re-arranged cosmic charlie

highlights are garcia's delicate playing in crazy fingers and a 12-minute slipknot that gets pretty weird

Missed out on tickets, and decided to go see JRAD at Red Rocks instead. But I'm damn tempted to try and find a ticket to drive down next weekend.

40 years ago this week, terrapin station was released

here is the only attempt the band ever made to play the (almost) full suite live

MARCH 18, 1977 WINTERLAND

and a medley of the suite, featuring moe., railroad earth, holly bowling, and many others, that is very cool

I've read where the Garcia family is bringing a bunch of cool stuff to display at the venue museum before the show. I'll try to get some pix if it's worthwhile seeing

bobbys campfire band is really really good so I'm excited to see them again

Decided to check out the Spring '77 stop in Tuscaloosa. It's a pretty damn good show (of course it was, it was May 1977). Will definitely come back to this one.

Having one of those "man I love this music" mornings.

Viola Lee Blues from 7.30.66 BC trips festival just came on Sirius 23 on my way back from lunch. Stellar version. The host comes out of the song with "the Dead put the kool and a-whole-lot more in Kool-aid that night"

VLB has to be my most listened to GD songs. Can't get enough of it.

Terrapin Station has been gaining ground on my favorites list lately.
