I mean, prove me wrong. That setlist was amazing. Gilmour surrounded himself with some great musicians and the sound was amazing

My goto live performance.

Some of Gilmours original songs on that performance were fricking unreal. Then I close my eyes, Then we start, On a Island. All outstanding

Then that version of Echoes is the very best ever played. That last 5 mins of Back and forth with Richard was perfection

in terms of spacing, timing, and tone, gilmour is probably the greatest lead guitar player of all time.
i love page, srv, bonamassa, walsh, buckingham and a few others, but gilmour tops my list. he’s not flashy. he’s not the fastest. but, damn, he’s great!

If I could pick one guitarist to play like, it would undoubtedly be Gilmour. His live solo at the end of “Comfortably Numb” is hair-raising.

I am not so sure this guy might be able to do it if he really wanted too.

maybe because of how and who he learned from

and he did it the old fashion way

Fat Old Sun was a big surprise for me - now my favorite song of that performance. Haunting song with a bad arse guitar solo, amazing.

It is a great tune and his version at Gdansk was excellent. I love the original as well.

On a Island is a underrated Gilmour tune. That solo is pure Gilmour. "Then I close my eyes" is a great rotation of the musicians he had with him.

Thinking about it, his live performance Pulse is pretty incredible. The visuals and music are amazing. I’d put it right up there with Gdansk. Flip a coin between those.

Gdansk is special to me for that performance of Echoes. It is the song that set me on a obsession that has lasted for 40 years. It was my first Floyd album and really my first exposure to them.

Echoes remains my favorite Floyd time to date. It honestly is what I associate them with.

Gilmour at Pompeii was also a great live performance at an incredible place but Gdansk was just better overall.

I have the new box set “the later years” and the reconditioned Pulse concert on there is very good.

Gdansk and Pompeii I have watched many a time. I have used Gilmour recordings from all different phases of his career to highlight what damn near perfect guitar playing sounds like to my 3 boys. All of whom have taken interest in playing.

Not to start an unrelated argument, but he was the brains of Pink Floyd IMHO and I gravitate to the songs that he imprinted on far more than the Roger Waters driven stuff.
