Sublime if it isn't too late

Considering the OP lost a LSU/AU ban bet, this thread may last awhile.

I've explored Sublime in great depth.

I haven't explored 311 in depth because I haven't heard a single song they've made that isn't atrocious. Forgive me for not scouring the internet for unreleased material from a band I hate.

311. They have fallen off in their newer recordings but they still put on a fun and energetic show. They get bonus points for keeping the lineup intact and not having anyone OD.

I know and listen regularly to every song by either band, I am making an informed decision that 311 wins.

I don't think most people in this thread have delved into both bands on a musicians scale, but 311 has one of the best, most cleanest drummers in modern rock (Chad Sexton), their bassist is pretty fricking on point with popping and slapping on a Warwick (Pnut), and their lead guitarist has a diverse array of tones, sounds, and command on effects (Tim Mahoney).

I agree with this. Chad's snare is a iconic sound in music, dare I say much like Jimi and the wah.

PNut inspired me to play bass. I've been in love with Warwick's since the first time I saw 311. The way he pops the strings or in perfect rhythm with Chad with a perfect riding bass line is incredible.

Then there is yenohaM miT. What a master of sounds and effects. He may not be the best guitarist in the world to some (although he's pretty fricking good and I consider him one of the GOAT), the sounds he can make and the effects he has essentially created are just special.

They do an amazing job of blending so many types and styles of music into one style: 311

That is easily one of the worst covers ever

The Cure is not easily covered

That said, i'd probably go with 311 just off their first 3 albums.

I'm going with 311 also

Bam, I posted 311 was more talented than Sublime earlier in the thread. Nothing wrong with Sublime at all, but 311 blows them away.

Agreed. This is the band I have seen consistently since 2004 311 day but been a fan since the mid 90s. Put on great shows.

Do I have to choose one?

I will pick Sublime.

Can't stand 311.
