Alright, this isn't meant to be cruel and certainly isn't a hatred toward females, but there was another thread asking about favorite female vocalists. A few popped into my head that I absolutely can't stand, hence this thread.

Edie Brickell - Sorry Steve Martin. Not sure how you hooked up with this one since you're one of my favorites. I can't stand the way her notes taper off with each and every word.

Kim Carnes - The equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard. Too bad she didn't have Betty Davis' voice.

Stevie Nicks -

'nuff said.

Whitney Houston - anytime "I Will Always Love You" starts playing while I'm shopping, I'm making a beeline for the exit.

I'm sure I'll think of more.

Whatcha got?

While recognizing that she is an incredibly talented vocalist, I do not enjoy Jennifer Hudson

If you mean the one song "I will always love you" I can understand because it has been so overplayed. But how can you not love that voice? Pre-drugs, of course.

Talented singer and even better songwriter.

Kim Carnes

Not everyone's cup of tea, but she has been a respected vocalist (both lead and backup) and songwriter since 1965.

Her voice can be annoying, but she's talented. The twirling and shawls bother much more than her voice ever has.

Annoying, but talented. Dolly Parton enjoyed collecting the royalties and, of course, did a much better version.

I loathe Barbra Streisand (but, again, she's talented).

yup

...and it's not even her song. It was written and performed by Dolly Parton years earlier.

Okay, you just listed 5 icons.

Well, at least 2 icons. Nicks and Houston.

Sort of like saying, I hate most of the Beatles.

But that's fine.

I can't stand Alanis Morrisette and...

I would list 2000-present bubble-gum pop but I'm not sure they actually are singers?

Yup, and I understand why people like them. They're just not my cup of tea.

Cher
Celine Dion
Taylor Swift (singer? I mean, she can sing, but not known for her pipes or anything)

She was actually pretty notorious for singing flat early on. I have perfect pitch and every time I hear several of those songs I have to turn them off. Now that being said, she did get better with time and eventually became a very solid vocalist.

Janis Joplin....makes me cringe...always has. I know she is an icon and the greatest of all times and all that, but never did work for me.

She actually has one of the smallest vocal ranges out there among popular professional singers. I mean the very bottom of the barrel. Only Luke Bryan is worse than her.

That's only an excerpt of the bottom portion of the chart. At the top of the full chart are:

She is the absolute worst and I pray she stops ruining local music with every lyric she emits.

Using "singer" very loosely, definitely Nikki Minaj. Hate her.

Also Tracy Chapman. No thanks.
