I've always thought that the whole performance/persona was intended to be somewhat tongue-in-cheek and ironic.

It is. These types of things always seemed to be lost on this particular OP.

Naw....like I said, I am not a big fan mainly because when I hear his stuff when my wife plays it, it's boring for the most part. Maybe it is performance art but the music itself is meh.

Ironic now I see this article comparing Father John and Shinyribs. The article claims Shinyribs is Kevin's alter ego or just a character. But I know that is not true. Shinyribs is Kevin and Kevin is Shinyribs. It's not a manufactured character.

Do you listen to the lyrics? They're fricking brilliant. And he has a great voice. And he has a really diverse sound throughout his first two albums as FJM. None of this has to do with his stage persona. Not sure where the disconnect is exactly, but hey... it's your life.

Basic chord structures and arrangements. He/ they make it seem better because they are talented techicians and he has a great voice.

Ripped it last night. New stuff was heavy and intense.

Not sure I understand this critique. Most of Dylan's songs are very simple in this regard and he is the GOAT. It's all about melody and timing.

How tight was security getting into the Civic? I'm going to a concert in a few weeks and wanted to bring a flask in.

So you only listen to music that has complex chord structures and arrangements? I mean, I get that some music can be boring, but it shouldn't be boring because an artist isn't playing something complex. There are A LOT of timeless songs that use Very simple chord arrangements.

Here are some examples:

America - Horse With No Name Basically 2 chords for THE WHOLE SONG.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

Good show. He and band sounded great. And he was hilarious. The guitar throw was amazing.

Heard the name before but never listened... just tried to listen to two songs (one of which was live on Letterman)... couldn't get past a minute of each without becoming disinterested. So, I do believe I agree with you (luckily, I didn't have to sit through it live)

Again with the 40 year old crap....but it was crap back then too. But sure, a simple song can be good. A few of FJM songs are good. But most just drag on.
