I realize this will fly in the face of the hive mind, but Disintegration is a far superior album.
I would prob agree. But they are a perfect example of a band where I don’t like all of their stuff. Still think they are good.

They are different from album to album. They don't stay still, they experiment. No two albums sound the same. The closest would be Faith and Pornography.

I currently have the wall, darkside of the moon, obscured by clouds, sourceful of secrets, endless river, animals, atom heart mother and a momentary lapse of reason.
Still need a few more.
How do you have all those and don't have Meddle and Wish You Were Here?
There are your next two Floyd purchases.

Comfortably Numb boasts the best guitar solo of all time.

I ended up ordering the pulse bluray and watched it last night since it was shite weather. fricking rad. Really dug the use of the props.
I’ve seen various clips from it over the years just never all the way through. And usually on the computer or phone. I had it on the big screen playing through the surround sound.

I’m not sure they are better than the Beatles but yes, Pink Floyd is my favorite rock band of all time.

have a serious question: for how many of yall in here does this involve LSD or whatever? I haven't really done that whole thing with PF.
In high school I took acid and did the whole Dark Side paired with Wizard of Oz thing. What a trip.

I will admit that my obsession with them is probably not a healthy one. I was given Meddle as a very young teenager in the middle 70's and it just got me. I have been a massive fan ever since. I dont by any means know all the trivia or even try to, I just love the music and never get tired of it.
I have flown all over the US just to see tribute bands of them. My wife is not as big of a fan but pacifies me by tagging along
I still have all my original vinyl and first copy CD's. I mostly listen now from my tidal playlists but occasionally bring out the big records. Unlike a lot of Pink Floyd fans, I was not as big of a fan of the Syd Barrett stuff in the early days. I fully understand his significance but feel like his departure and the addition of Gilmour paved the way for them to go from what they were to being one of the best bands ever
They have some great music that is not discussed often. Obscured by Clouds is a excellent album and one that you need to cue up and just play through. Meddle still is huge for me as Echoes is probably my favorite song of all time. I have probably listened to it, in different versions, 10,000 times in my life.
Like someone here posted before, the Waterless Floyd is also good to me. I thought Division Bell was a excellent listen and Gilmour did well with it. I am a Gilmour fan over Roger even though I am full aware of Waters greatness. He is just a great big flaming douche bag to me which just keeps me from liking him.
We are finally in our new home after a 2 year build and I have started building a new system here. I have purchased my copy of the Dark side of the Moon is Dolby Atmos and can not wait to fire it up weekly and listen to it in this new format. Front sound stage is built. Just need the rears and ceiling mounted speakers. Soon

Prob the best Pink Floyd adjacent release is Nick Mason’s saucerful of secrets. Blows Roger’s redux out of the water.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun
Actually blown away.
And if you get this you got to get the full film and not just the vinyl. The effects are brilliant and the interviews are intertwined so it all flows really well.
Here is one of these days since meddle seems to be a favorite.

Everyone arguing if David Gilmour or Roger Waters is the best live Floyd around today and here I think Nick Mason is putting them both to shame.

Their 70s run is hard to beat. Peak emotional connection between lyrics, music, arrangement, atmosphere. It’s hard to have a better decade.

At least you used the word Time in your sentence because the solo on that song is sublime.

As a child of the 80s I was only a casual fan. I of course knew and liked the classics from DSOTM, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall growing up it wasn't until a few years ago when I dated a woman 10 years my senior that was a big fan that I started diving into their live performances on YouTube that I learned to better appreciate their brilliance.
It wasn't until I heard several live performances of Pink Floyd's 1994 Pulse tour from their live performamce at Earl's Court on YouTube that I began to fully appreciate how brilliant they are live. That particular show is one of the best live performances I've ever seen from any band of any genre.
