There are no bad Beatles songs. Some are just a lot better than others. I'm gigging Friday night with my main group that usually plays all originals. Since it's V-day we decided to play mostly covers which will include but not limited to Love Me Do, Please Please Me and 8 Days A Week. All are great love-based songs.

I thought it was somewhat a consensus that revolution is their worst song (at least among brits). I agree.
People bringing up A Day in a Life, and Taxman deserve a super-sized wat.

Have to agree with the consensus of For You Blue or Get Back not being great. Not a big fan of Long and Winding Road either.
But FWIW when I think about some of the things that are being mass produced in the fashion that they were at one point, it's hard to say they had much of anything that sucked at all. Even their earlier stuff. I'd take their pop over a good majority of pop mass produced today.

I must be the only one who likes the Long and Winding Road
On the other hand, I need someone to explain to me how Get Back is a "great song" or a "masterpiece."

1. Long & Winding Road is not a bad song but it could benefit from a different arrangement. Maybe even an up-tempo acoustic guitar version. As it is the horns and other instrumentation tend to make it tiresome.
2. Get Back is nothing more than a catchy rhythm guitar song that showcases Paul's penchant for writing ridiculous lyrics.
3. Not only is Ticket to Ride a great song, the entire Help soundtrack album is one of the most under-appreciated albums the Beatles put out. It is sad that it is always overshadowed by Rubber Soul, Revolver, etc.
Just some points to ponder.

exactly. It's not the song composition or song writing, but Spector's overproduction that hurt it.

This...Phil Spector overproduced the Let It Be album big time. Let It Be Naked is the way it was intended to be recorded.
Even the Beatles Anthology albums are great. I love the alternate version of Tomorrow Never Knows and the demo for While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

If its any band that can play pop type songs that I love its the Beatles.
I have been listening to "I Should've Known Better" a lot lately. Damn catchy song

They were clever little bastids like that. Chord progressions and time changes that are unexpected yet really pleasing. If one were to aspire to write music, he should study these guys relentlessly.

All those early 60s pop songs really depend on a solid middle eight. Its that little section that really makes or break a simple 2 1/2 min tune. This where john and paul seperated themselves from just about everyone else, imo.
